Let’s Talk… 💛💙🌻

We’re proud to be taking part in Dying Matters Awareness Week (4–10 May 2026) – a national campaign encouraging open and honest conversations about death, dying and bereavement.

We know these conversations can feel difficult, but they affect all of us. Talking about them can help people feel more prepared, supported and less alone.

Join us for one of our informal “Let’s Talk” sessions – a chance to chat over a free cuppa, ask questions, or simply listen in a warm and welcoming space.

📅 Tuesday 5 May, 3pm–5pm
📍 George Moore Community Centre, Bourton-on-the-Water

📅 Wednesday 6 May, 1:30pm–4:30pm
📍 Redesdale Hall, Moreton-in-Marsh

Our nurses will be joined by local funeral directors and solicitors, who will be on hand to offer guidance and answer your questions.

Everyone is welcome 💚

The next drop in is Tuesday 28th April. Please use this service to ensure that it is not discontinued.

Bowel Cancer Awareness Month

April is Bowel Cancer Awareness month April marks Bowel Cancer Awareness Month and we are encouraging everyone to share information about the disease, its symptoms, and the importance of early detection.

Bowel cancer is the 4th most common cancer in the UK, with over 42,000 people diagnosed each year. It is the 2nd leading cause of cancer-related deaths, but with early detection, the survival rate can be as high as 9 in 10. Therefore, it’s important to increase awareness about the signs, symptoms, and preventative measures that we can take.

Although the risk of bowel cancer increases with age, it can affect people of any age. However, making certain lifestyle choices can help reduce this risk:

Healthy Lifestyle: Maintaining a healthy diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and fibre while avoiding excessive alcohol and processed meats can lower your risk of developing bowel cancer. Staying active and not smoking are also key factors in prevention.

Screening: When you receive a bowel cancer screening kit in the post, it's important to participate. Screening can help detect early signs of cancer before symptoms develop.

Bowel cancer may not always show clear symptoms in its early stages, which is why it's so important to be aware and vigilant.

Common signs and symptoms include:

* Persistent changes in bowel habits, such as diarrhoea, constipation, or a feeling of incomplete evacuation.
* Blood in your stool or bleeding from your bottom.
* Unexplained weight loss or fatigue.
* Abdominal pain or discomfort, such as cramps or bloating.
* A feeling of not being able to empty your bowels completely.
If you experience any of these symptoms, particularly if they last for three weeks or more, it’s important to contact your GP for advice and possible testing.

Remember, when it comes to bowel cancer, early action is crucial. Let's work together to raise awareness.

Tips & Tricks to Stay Safe from Ticks

Ticks are small, spider-like creatures. They feed on the blood of birds and mammals, including humans. They vary in size and are usually between 1mm to 1cm long. They have either 6 or 8 legs.

Tick bites aren’t usually painful but they may cause a red lump to develop where you were bitten.

In some cases, tick bites may cause swelling, itchiness, blistering
and bruising.

Please speak to us or the Minor Injury & Ilness Unit if you’ve been in an area where you could have been bitten by a tick and you have:

*a pink or red rash
* a temperature of 38°C (100.4°F) or above
* other flu-like symptoms, like a headache or joint pain
* swollen lymph nodes
