This is so true! First Aid training should be accessible to EVERYONE

Even if you physically can't perform CPR, you can still help save lives.

By becoming familiar and confident with the lifesaving steps, you can guide others to undertake the physical aspects.

The UK lags behind other countries in CPR awareness and currently less than one in ten survive an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest.

Our report offers recommendations of how we can change this by closing inequality gaps in resuscitation.

We had another busy Mini Mixers on Monday, where we were joined by First Aid in Education and Citizens Advice Mid Suffolk . We also had some lovely new donated toys which seemed to go down very well with the children 😊

Our next session is on 29th April, and we will be announcing our very exciting special guests in the next few weeks so keep your eyes peeled for that! 🕵️‍♀️

Mini Mixers is back again this Monday from 9am to 11am.

This month we are joined by Citizens Advice Mid Suffolk, who will be on hand to discuss the services they can provide, and First Aid in Education, who will be providing some *free CPR mini sessions* at 9.15, 9.45 and 10.15. The spaces for these sessions are limited, so please let us know in the comments if you would like to sign up.

We also have some new toys for your littles to enjoy, and we will be continuing with our second-hand clothes swap as it went down so well - so please feel free to bring along your kiddie's outgrown clothes to swap for the next size up!

Don't forget we have our exclusive deal for a hot drink and slice of cake, with a free babyccino and mini brownie or flapjack (vg). All the drinks will be served in takeaway cups, purely to try to limit scalds. If you are able to bring your own flask not only will you be saving the world, but you will also save yourself 10% off the price!

*Just a little reminder to please not bring your own food or drink into the building.*

New data from Children's Burns Trust shows a shocking 20% rise in burns to children from hair straighteners.

Hair straighteners and curling tongs can reach temperatures of over 200oC – that’s as hot as an iron. And they can still burn even after they’re unplugged.

Where can you put yours so they’re safely away from curious little fingers? Find a spot and get in the habit of leaving them there each time.

Please take care with mini eggs

It’s that time of year again when mini eggs are lining the supermarket shelves. But, did you know that, just like grapes, they are the perfect size to block a small child’s airway and choke them? And, their hard shell can make it difficult to dislodge with standard first aid techniques.

With whole grapes we advise cutting them in half lengthways and ideally into quarters to create thin strips. But chopping up mini eggs isn’t as easy. So, what can you do?

1. Hide them from the children and eat them yourself – good luck with that!

2. Put the mini eggs into a sealable plastic bag and smash them into small pieces with a rolling pin. Or, crush them in a pestle and mortar.

3. Opt for a different treat. Larger, hollow eggs are much safer for little ones.
