About me.
My professional qualification is a Child Care Social Worker.
For the last 16 years I have worked for NHS C.A.M.H.S ( child and adolescent mental health services). I have experience, qualifications and training working with Children, Young People and Adults.
Previous to this I gained 5 years experience working for the Local Authority as a Child Care Social Worker, specifically within safeguarding, looked after children, court work and youth offending service.
I am able to offer ~
Assessment of the situation with the aim of gaining understanding of what the issues may be, what may have caused these issues, and what sort of things might be done in order to help make a positive change to the situation.
Provide a letter or a report detailing these conclusions
Help the individual and family develop a plan aimed at meeting identified needs
Provide Counselling or Therapeutic interventions as appropriate and agreed. the type of work I am able to offer includes.
1. FAMILY WORK
This may include getting agreed members of the family together in order to explore how everyone gets on together, identify any issues that may cause difficulty getting on with each other, explore these issues from different peoples points of view so that all family members begin to understand each other’s point of view, and then explore together if there may be some things that could be done differently in order to help people get on better together.
2. INDIVIDUAL WORK
This may be either with the child, young person, parent of adult aimed at exploring identified needs. This could be exploring issues in the here and now, or issues that may have happened in the past which may impact on the here and now. This may include therapeutic interventions such as ~
I) Cognitive Behaviour Counselling (using aspects of CBT but I am not a qualified CBT Therapist)
II) Solution Focused Approaches
III) Mindfulness
IV) Reflective Active Listening
V) Problem Solving
3. RELATIONSHIP WORK (Attachment Work)
This may be working on specific relationships such as between parent and child, between parents or sibling work. Approaches used may include ~
I) the 4 approaches detailed above
II). Dyadic work, including the use of video (Video Interactive Guidance (VIG) approaches), aspects of Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP) model
4. BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT WORK
The aim of this work would be to empower parents to understand and manage their child or young persons difficult to manage behaviour, and how this may impact on the child, young person or the parent. This work may include aspects of all of the previously mentioned 6 approaches, but is also based on aspects of ~
I) Triple P ( Positive Parenting Programme)
II) 1,2,3 Magic.
