Red Gables Garden Project

Red Gables Garden Project Red Gables Garden Project began in 2012 and is a volunteer led gardening group which focuses on improving individuals mental health and wellbeing.

What is the Red Gables Garden Project? The Garden Project supports a group of 15 hardworking and dedicated volunteers with mental health and learning difficulties. Red Gables creates an environment for the volunteers to develop their skills at their own pace, it also offers an opportunity for the volunteers to build teamwork skills and to develop knowledge and an understanding of growing sustainable food within the garden grounds. The project provides opportunities to develop confidence, social skills and general wellbeing, it promotes exercise and enables volunteers to understand the importance of healthy food. The project has received recognition from the local community through winning a Silver Award at the Stowmarket Town Awards and a Mid Suffolk Community Achievement award in the community hero category
Red Gables Garden Project is a lifeline to many volunteers, it provides them with stability and routine giving the volunteers confidence to manage in everyday life. We work in partnership with Suffolk Wildlife Trust who provide us with advice on enhancing our wildlife areas. We also have support from the Royal Horticultural Society who give further advice on planting schemes to increase wildlife numbers.
