Bowel cancer screening is offered to people aged 60 to 74 to check for bowel cancer.

Screening can help detect cancer at an early stage when treatment is more effective. Screening can also check for and remove polyps which can go on to develop into cancer over time.

Meet Robert 👋

Robert found out he had a AAA ten years ago after attending for screening. He was monitored for ten years before he had to have surgery.

Robert said: “I initially had a small AAA and was screened every year. It gradually started to get bigger so I was then screened every six months, then every three months. Once it got too big, I was then sent to have surgery. I would encourage all men who are invited to attend to go to their appointment. If I didn’t go for screening I would never have knew I had a AAA. It’s so important to attend as it could save your life.”
