In Your Space Circus visited our DEEDS Social group this week for some circus skills fun. Our members had a great morning of movement and laughs. A great way to spend a morning and increase our activity level in a gentle and stimulating way.

Check out some of the action from WEEK 2 of our EMPOWERED COMMUNITIES STRABANE - Walking Cricket project, deliver in partnership with the North West Cricket Union 🏏

Last Friday 2 local primary schools Strabane Primary School and StCatherines PrimarySchool visited the Windsor Park National football stadium as part of a Good Relations programme.

The kids enjoyed a guided tour of the stadium and the museum facility before taking to the pitch for a football workshop led by IFA Coaches.

A thoroughly enjoyable experience for all the children and staff present. They were so well behaved and the coaches remarked on their skill set as well as their manners and behaviour.

These children are a credit to their schools , their town and their families and it’s great to see them enjoying these shared experiences that will stay with them for a lifetime.

Well done to all who attend and sincere thanks to both schools for getting involved. Thanks also to Derry and Strabane district council for funding this trip through their Good Relations programme , a great example of work in partnership in our community.

🤍💙Another wonderful day out for our Stay Young ladies who visited the Guildhall yesterday for a reception with the Mayor of Derry City & Strabane District 🤍💙

The ladies enjoyed a private engagement with the Mayor who wanted to acknowledge their outstanding contribution to local charities and their tireless support of community causes.
These ladies are a credit to the community and shining example of generosity and compassion.

During the visit the ladies also presented the Mayor with some examples of the crocheted items they create. In the pictures you will see beautifully coloured blankets and trauma teddies that are donated to local hospitals and emergency services. These items are given to patients and victims of road traffic accidents at their time of need and provide great comfort to those who receive them. As well as making these wonderful items the ladies are always keen to pass on their skills to the younger generation and have visited local schools and community groups for intergenerational workshops, ensuring these skills are passed on to the next generation.

Our STAY YOUNG ladies have been deservedly recognised for their contribution to our community and we are so proud that we have the privilege of supporting them and hosting them here at Strabane And District Caring Services

Congratulations ladies, this is so deserved. We wish you all continued health and happiness and look forward to the journey ahead as we work together to support our community in our own special way.

Sincere thanks to the Mayor and his staff at The Guildhall Derry who made the ladies feel so welcome and facilitated a very informative tour of the building sharing stories of its rich history.
