Cross-Border Health Initiative

From 2 June 2025, the Cross-Border Waiting List Reimbursement Scheme will open for patients in Northern Ireland who have been waiting two years or more for hospital treatment.

This scheme will reimburse the cost of treatment received in the Republic of Ireland, with potential for it to expand to the wider EU later this year, depending on funding.

Open to NI residents waiting 2+ years for hospital treatment.

Pre-approval is required from the Department of Health, no retrospective claims allowed.
