Sometimes qigong can seem a little impenetrable to people - especially if you are new to it.

Think of it as a moving meditation that develops energy in the body and has specific health benefits. It translates as qi= energy, gong =work.

Throughout 2026 a variety of qigong forms will be taught at Strathaven Meditation and Qigong - all with specific benefits. Right now the class is focusing on Yi Jin Jing- a form to develop and strengthen the tendons, muscles, sinews and bones. After Easter we'll ease into Nei Yang Gong- a set of movements to massage the inner organs and help digestive disorders. Then, following the summer holidays our focus will turn to wellbeing and preserving good health with Daoyin Bao jian gong.

Each session combines two short, silent practices and one longer guided practice. All done on the banks of a river where we listen to the water flow.

Interested in learning qigong? Qigong is a movement meditation that's been taught for over 2000 years.
2026 will see 4 different forms taught here in Strathaven- with all forms benefitting mental and physical health, including digestive issues, coordination, balance, blood pressure, bone density, stress and anxiety.
The Yi Jin Jing course is currently at capacity, but if you're interested in future teachings, get in touch.
All classes run on Wednesday and Thursday evenings.

A big thank you ❤️ to everyone who came to the qigong taster sessions this week- they were a great success. It was lovely to meet you all and I hope you enjoyed the class.

The sessions are on tomorrow night- the first at 6:30pm, the second at 8pm. Looking forward to meeting everyone then.

Some information for those attending:

The classes are Lochar Mill Riverside Retreat, just outside Strathaven on the Muirkirk Rd. ML10 6RD.

Please bring a pair of INDOOR SHOES or WARM SOCKS to wear.

Wear comfy and loose clothing

Bring some water to keep hydrated if you need it.

Parking at Lochar Mill is explained in the image below.

The big day is nearly here! The taster sessions for qigong are this week!

Amazingly, all 3 sessions are full- with a healthy waiting list. If you have a place and you'd like a reminder of the time or if you can no longer make it, please let me know.

Classes begin in earnest from Feb 4th and 5th. Come learn a new practice that brings the breath, gentle movement and mindfulness together. A block of 4 sessions is £32. Get in touch if you'd like to know more. 🙏
