It's been a while since I have posted properly, I have been absolutely flat out in clinic for the past few weeks. Even the out of hours appointments have been filled as soon as they have gone live.

In half term I opened up for a day to hold a specific children's clinic and the results keep speaking for themselves. The children ranged from 10 months to 13 years and all really enjoyed their sessions. Many are asking when they can come back! I hope to do another one sometime in December, so watch this space.

I never thought I would need to write a post like this but I have had to close bookings to new patients until January. I am now fully booked until mid December with a waiting list and need to make sure I have some availabilty for current patients follow up appointments. New patients are recommended to book an initial course of 3 sessions and so I want to make sure I have the capacity for these bookings.

Appointments are bookable for January and I will be updating my booking system with further availabilty for 2026 in the coming weeks.

If you have an appointment and you are unable to attend for whatever reason, please do let me know as soon as you can, either by calling or text message, as these are the most reliable methods. I have a 48 hour cancellation policy as it is not usually possible to fill late cancellations at such short notice.

I have had several enquiries about whether Bowen can be helpful for children. I used to have a dedicated children's clinic many years ago and the changes in the children from week to week was amazing to see. I have opened up a limited number of slots this coming Saturday 18th October and also on Thursday 30th October (half term) if you would like to bring your child for some Bowen. It can help realign and also calm their nervous systems as well as dealing with aches and pains from an active lifestyle or just from growing.

Today is World Mental Health Day, but in reality every day we should be aware of not only our own mental health but of those around us. Keep an eye on your friends and family and never be afraid to keep the conversation going and ask those difficult questions. If you are struggling, please seek some support from someone you trust.

As a Mental Health First Aider and an orange button holder for su***de awareness, please do come and talk to me in confidence.

Bowen is tailored to the individual and can include vagus work to help calm the nervous system. But it is only part of what I do. Many patients open up and get things off their chest when they come to see me, knowing that everything is confidential (unless they're at risk). Most people report feeling not only physically lighter but also mentally lighter after their Bowen sessions.

Apologies for the radio silence.. it's been an incredibly busy few weeks, with the youngest starting secondary school, a fully booked clinic and yet another course! I had the pleasure of spending the day with Rose Holistic, learning all about gait and the importance of the right footwear (spoiler alert - barefoot!). This work has further emphasised how important the feet are and has already really helped with addressing the many foot issues I see in clinic every week.

I am fully booked until the middle of November which is phenomenal. I am so grateful to everyone who comes for treatment with me and then tells everyone about it. I have seen an increasing number of husbands and wives, friendship groups and even whole families, as the Bowen word continues to spread. I now have a waiting list and I have added urgent appointment sessions to my booking page. These are charged at a higher rate as they are outside my normal working hours and are bookable on a week by week basis.

Another great week in clinic, mind blowing results and happy patients! I received a new gift of a beautiful Peace Lily to brighten up my room a bit more, which was a lovely surprise.

I saw a very smiley baby, who after only one session is now trying to push himself up and has improved co-ordination. Mum and dad were really concerned about delayed development and are so happy with the result so far.

Other successes include the disappearances of an 11 year duration hip swelling, winging of a scapula, headaches and an improvement in shoulder restrictions in 3 patients. Also a great example of how a severe neck restriction has caused a low back and hip pain, which is gradually resolving.

If I hadn’t already done this course I would absolutely be signing up. Everything just clicks and makes so much sense and you will wonder why you waited so long! It’s all I talk about!

Tom Bowen, founder of the Original Bowen Technique, knew the importance of drinking more water - never more important than during the recent exceptional hot weather we've been experiencing in the UK and across Europe.

The fascia, sometimes referred to as the body's natural irrigation system, is made up mostly of water. The different Bowen moves release tension which means more water is needed to rehydrate the cells. In turn this enables the fascia network to flow more easily and lessens stiffness throughout the body.

More generally, hydration has long been acknowledged as critical to the maintenance of good health...

- to remove waste from the body
- to improve digestion - drink a glass before meals
- to avoid leg cramps - drink a glass before bed
- to activate internal organs - drink a glass or two on waking

Tom's three word mantra was 'water, walk, wait'. We talk to students about the 3Ws during training. And watch this space as we will be talking about the other two here very soon!
