There has been lot of concern about the recent outbreak of meningococcal disease in the news. The risk to the wider population remains low and the national guidance on management of the disease has not changed.

Targeted treatment is being offered to:
• All students who live on Canterbury campus
• All staff who live or work in affected Halls of Residence
• Anyone who attended Club Chemistry on 5th, 6th and 7th March
• Close contacts who have been identified by UKHSA

If an individual has returned home without receiving treatment through UK Health Security Agency please contact the surgery.

Children receive strong protection through the routine NHS Childhood vaccination schedule. You can check your child is up to date through the NHS App or their Red Book. Details on routine childhood vaccinations can be found at https://www.nhs.uk/vaccinations/nhs-vaccinations-and-when-to-have-them/

Did you know there's another way to contact your GP practice for non urgent issue's?

The NHS App (or NHS Website) is the main, recommended method. You can use it to book appointments, order repeat prescriptions, view your health record, and use the "Contact your GP about a health problem" service to send non-urgent queries. Through these tools, you can describe symptoms, ask questions, or request administrative help such as fit notes (sick notes) or test results.

You can also contact us online through https://accurx.nhs.uk/patient-initiated/m84616

Tomorrow (Wednesday 11th March) is National No Smoking Day.
This could be the perfect opportunity to take the first step towards quitting. Quitting smoking is one of the best things you can do for your health and the benefits start almost immediately. You don’t have to do it alone. With the right support, you’re much more likely to quit successfully.
Download the NHS Quit Smoking app https://www.nhs.uk/better-health/quit-smoking/ or book a smoking cessation appointment with our nurse Harriet.
