INCIDENT: THURSDAY 02 NOVEMBER 2023

Dear Patients,

A regrettable incident occurred at Apex yesterday, leading to a temporary closure as we responded to the situation. A patient acted out violently, causing significant damage to the premises and directing abusive language towards our reception team.

We want you to know that your care remains our most important responsibility despite such challenging events. Our practice is still open thanks to the diligent efforts of our team who acted swiftly with the help of local police.

It’s critically important to address that our staff do not, under any circumstances, come to work expecting to face abuse and violence.

We reiterate that our receptionists do not control the availability of appointments and should not bear the brunt of frustration resulting from that reality. The reception team is here to provide assistance in what is often a very fast-paced, high-pressure environment and they deserve respect and appreciation for their hard work.

Yesterday's behaviour has left us all very shaken and has caused fear and anguish amongst our entire team. Sadly, verbal abuse towards our team has increased in recent months hindering their ability at times to provide the quality care they strive to deliver every day. Consequently, we highlight our continued commitment to a zero-tolerance policy towards any form of abuse or violence.

That being said, we are profoundly thankful to the majority of our patients who show an understanding and supportive attitude towards our staff, particularly amidst the challenging conditions we are currently navigating.

We wish to reassure all our patients that we are committed to ensuring a safe and respectful environment for both our staff and patients. We wholeheartedly thank you for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

Stay well and safe,

Hayley Mills
Practice Manager

In the UK, most cases of HIV are caused by having s*x with a person who has HIV without using a condom but it can also be transmitted by coming into contact with infected blood – for example, sharing needles to inject steroids or drugs. A person with HIV can pass the virus on to others even if they do not have any symptoms.

Tinnitus is the name for hearing ringing or buzzing that comes from inside your ears, rather than from an outside source. It can be debilitating for many sufferers and can come and go depending on the environment you’re in. You should make an appointment to come see us at Apex if you have tinnitus regularly or constantly or if it’s getting worse and affecting your day to day life.

Hello 👋 Thanks for stopping by our page. It's a bit sparse right now as we're not really using it much. Being a small team, we focus on delivering safe, fast access to our services so there's little time for Facebook when we're busy in practice.

Most patients tell us they prefer our letters, text messages and newsletters to stay up to date with the practice. You can sign up for newsletters on our practice website home page. Look for "Subscribe to our Latest News" near the bottom of the page.

We also share regular updates to Google where you might go to look for our number or website - just in case our phone lines are down 😬 or we have something important to share.

You can really help our team and fellow patients by letting us know if you read anything concerning Apex Medical Practice while browsing through Facebook. Social media channels can often contain misinformation, potentially harming vulnerable patients and staff who might see it. Please help us by taking a screenshot and emailing it to me so I can investigate.

If we can help you with anything else, don't hesitate to contact us when we're open. Thanks as ever for your continued support.

Thank you.
