Snapping hip

📖- A common complaint I hear is ‘my hip feels like it’s popping out of place’.

Definitely an easy mistake that can be made. But fear not, this is usually the result of an excessively tight muscle “twanging” over a boney prominence.

This can commonly be felt when running because the leg extends, this lengthens the iliopsoas & like an elastic band when pulled tight, it will make a twang noise.

This isn’t anything to fear, more an indicator that you should just be addressing flexibility and stability around the pelvis.

Tendinopathy

📖- If you think you may have tendinopathy, it is important to see to get a diagnosis and treatment plan.

Tendinopathies are common injuries and heal relatively quickly with the right treatment. However, if ignored it can become a more serious issue with longer healing times and potential risks such as rupture.

A treatment plan that will help you to recover, improve mobility & strength and also help you to make long term changes in your approach of taking responsibility for your own body.

Additional tips:

✅ Warm up & cool down.

✅ Vary your activity.

✅ Plan recovery periods.

✅ Follow a programme that progressively develops strength and other aspects of fitness.

Biggest rookie mistake with runners 🏃‍♂️🏃‍♀️

📖- Why should you bother with a plan?

- To determine suitable training methods.
- Reduce risk of injury.
- Reduce accumulative fatigue.
- Long term success.

✅ There’s something about having an overall goal and hitting weekly targets that keeps you in for the long run (no pun intended).

✅ The level of satisfaction and the ongoing management of training load is a great driver for maintaining motivation, which will allow you to run for long enough so that it becomes an engrained habit rather than just a new trend.
