£52 - Initial Assessment.Your initial appointment may last up to 60 mins to allow for comprehensive assessment, initial treatment and also rehab plans

£37 - Follow up appointment. Follow ups will be for up to 30 mins however a 60 minute follow up can be arranged on request (same price as an initial assessment). Prices are inclusive of treatment resources, including use of Shockwave Therapy, Acupuncture and taping.

🦵 ACL reconstruction testing!

1️⃣ Single leg sit to stand test (5 months post ACL-R & medial meniscus repair and a tough start post op!)

✅ You’re looking for >22 reps to pass.

➡️ However, I would argue that just getting the reps doesn’t show the full picture.

👀 The reps should ‘look’ the same!

✅ The same balance
✅ The same control into end range extension and down
✅ The same body symmetry / trunk position

🤝 Passing the ‘measurable’ test is ultimately the most important thing.

👀 But don’t totally disregard your physio eye. You’re highly trained for a reason and people can ‘compensate’ in various ways!

🧠 Humans are more complicated than sheets of paper with pre-designed rehab plans and outcomes.

🦵 Bit of early stage ACL-R rehab.

➡️➡️ The previous posts have been aimed at getting the knee forward, loading anteriorly with a positive shin angle.

👀 But even early on there is so many simply basic things to work on and ensure they are BANG on.

👍 So here is a simple heel raise in 2nd position. See how the knee immediately wants to bend a little.

☝️ No thank you! Not the purpose of this exercise!

🦵 We need a bendy mobile knee, a very strong bendy knee but also a strong & stiff knee in various positions at the same time!

🙌 We can review a knee at any stage to see where you are at. We will test things thoroughly and not just go by what a rehab protocol says.

🤷‍♂️ We have seen clients recently who are 10-14 months post-op, who have passed some hop tests, but wanted to know where they are really at.

💪 We were completely honest to say that they that we would not have given them the green light yet. BUT they will get there!!!

💪 Next in the ACL reconstruction rehab journey.

👍 Remember, this series of rehab videos is simply tracking and progressing the ability of the knee to accept load forward and in deeper bent positions.

👀 Go and take a look at the previous videos, if you can’t be bothered, a montage will come soon!

🦵 So back to this exercise, you can see how now the knee is accepting an impact load forward with more force and then creating a push back from a flexed position.

💪 You can have the strongest quads ever, but if you haven’t trained this deeper knee flexion and positive shin angle loading, then you’re probably going to get knee pain!

✅ Do the basics damn well and then things like this look ‘easy’!

😆 Not too easy though, can’t have that through the rehab journey!

➡️ What this video doesn’t show is the absolute dedication by the person to push, drive, get stronger, put the hours in at the gym, do the boring stuff but very well.

👏 Long term rehab is TOUGH, so he is absolutely smashing it at the moment!

⏮️ Head back and check the previous rehab vids of this knee over toe movement.

🦵Now you can start to get a clearer idea of why it is so important to train the ability of the knee to load anteriorly (knee over toe).

✅ When we lunge, push forward, decelerate, land etc, this all requires the knee to absorb this force and be strong to cope and not cheat elsewhere.

🤝 You have to be able to trust the knee. You can’t trust it if you haven’t trained it!

💪 Yes, you absolutely need the quad strength & bulk, but unless you train the specific movement competencies, the knee won’t necessarily cope.

👍 No it is not there yet. The depth, the force and the load needs to increase. But it’s getting there!

😀 Remember, these videos are only highlighting one specific movement post ACL-R, they’re not focusing on hamstrings, glutes, knee flexion, side to side capability, plyometrics etc.

🧠 The same specific focus is given to all this rehab work too!
