Wardale Williams The Opticians- Sudbury Est. 1947. Part of Sudbury’s town centre since 1947, Wardale Williams Opticians is a well-established independent optician.

We can offer you expert advice and outstanding care as the only optician in the area to have an OCT (3D scanner of the eye which is normally seen in hospitals) which can detect eye conditions years before you notice any symptoms. We are also one of the only opticians to have an expert in colorimetry, who can undertake visual stress testing. Brands we sell include Ray-Ban, Tom Ford, MOSCOT, Oakley, Silhouette and WOOW. We stock all major brands of contact lenses. Parking in the town centre is readily available, with some disabled bays outside the practice. We are a regulated NHS Practice and operate to the highest standards including appointment-only entry, giving you a safe and pleasant visit. Free hearing care assessments are now available. We were a finalist in UK Family Practice of the Year in 2018 and see patients of all ages. We also won the Community Involvement Award from the EADT Business Awards in 2017 and Local and Loved UK Optician of the UK in 2015. To make an appointment, call us now on 01787 372492

👁️💜 Caring for Ageing Eyes 💜👁️

As we get older, our eyes go through natural changes — but good vision is key to staying independent, active, and connected.

Common age-related eye conditions include:
👓 Presbyopia – losing the ability to focus on near objects
🌫️ Cataracts – clouding of the intra ocular lens
🟣 Glaucoma – build up of pressure causing damage to the optic nerve
🌟 Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) – affecting central vision
💧 Dry eye – more common as we age, affecting comfort and vision

✅ Regular eye tests detect problems early
✅ Lifestyle choices like not smoking, a healthy diet & UV protection help keep eyes healthy
✅ Lid hygiene helps prevent bacteria, improves comfort and supports healthy tears

This National Eye Health Week, show your eyes some love. Book an eye test and keep your vision clear for the years ahead. 💙

💻👀 It’s National Eye Health Week! 👀💻
Spending long hours on screens can cause eye strain, tiredness and headaches. The good news? Small changes make a big difference!

⏰ Follow the 20-20-20 rule: Every 20 minutes, look at something 20 feet away for 20 seconds.
🌿 Take regular screen breaks to rest your eyes.
💡 Make sure your screen is at the right height and lighting is comfortable.

Protect your vision—because your eyes matter. 💚

👀🌱 It’s National Eye Health Week! 🌱👀
Did you know that spending time outdoors is one of the best things you can do to protect your child’s eyesight?

⚽ Outdoor play helps reduce the risk of developing myopia (short-sightedness).
☀️ Natural light supports healthy eye development.
📱 Less screen time, more green time = healthier eyes!

Let’s make eye health a priority for our children’s future. 💛
