Mounjaro: The Weight Loss Injection

Mounjaro, or tirzepatide, is a weekly injection that was initially licensed to help treat type 2 diabetes but can now also be prescribed to help those with obesity lose weight.

Strict criteria dictates those who can access this medication. It is only for people with:

▪️A BMI of 40 or over (or 37.5 from a minority ethnic background)

AND living with FOUR of the five following conditions:
▪️type 2 diabetes
▪️high blood pressure
▪️heart and vascular disease
▪️high cholesterol
▪️obstructive sleep apnoea

If you do not meet the above criteria, you will NOT be able to access the injection on the NHS and an appointment will only be made when we are certain you meet the full criteria.

‼️Please note - Park lane practice are waiting for further guidance in regards to prescribing the medication and will not be booking any appointments until we get this despite what you might hear on the radio / news today. ‼️

Once guidance is received, we will be able to provide more information.
