Rainbow Wellbeing Hub - Kerry’s Draw and Talk Therapy

Rainbow Wellbeing Hub - Kerry’s Draw and Talk Therapy Independent Drawing and Talking Practitioner/Licensed Thrive Practitioner/Bereavement Support🌈💚 Who benefits from accessing Drawing and Talking?

Drawing and Talking is a child-centred one to one intervention focusing on supporting the social and emotional well-being of children and young people. Drawing and Talking Therapy is the number one alternative to CBT or direct talking therapies and interventions that can often be confronting or limiting in the processing of emotional pain.

It is a safe and gentle therapeutic approach, which provides an effective way for children and young people to process emotional pain they may be experiencing. It’s a 12 week intervention, meeting the client for 30 minutes on the same day, same time, same place each week. Based on Jungian principles in child psychology theory the child/young person will be guided through the power of healing. After completion of Drawing and Talking Therapy, individuals have been proven to be more able to control their emotions and most importantly have higher self-esteem, this allows them to thrive in the world around them. Supporting children and young people to have the opportunity to achieve and develop better social and emotional skills and improved resilience. Children from ages (5+) may benefit from Drawing and Talking therapeutic intervention: particularly if they:

• Have experienced emotional pain recently or in the past
• Have been or are in the process of being adopted or fostered
• Are young carers
• Experience emotional pain because of their LGBT status
•Experience anxiety, stress or phobias
• Have experienced loss or bereavement of any kind
• Are withdrawn or continually unhappy
• Have a terminal or long- term illness or disability
• Have SEN (including autism, ADHD, selective mutism)

Even though school is on summer break… my students are still in my thoughts!
This summer I’m sending Thrive Approach postcards to remind them:
🌈You are special
🌈You are remembered
🌈You belong
Strong connections don’t stop at the classroom door — they help children feel safe, valued, and ready for the year ahead.

I’m delighted to share that I have now completed my Licensed Thrive Practitioner conversion, enabling me to work with adolescents.
Supporting young people to build resilience, confidence, and thrive in their personal and educational journeys is something I feel deeply passionate about, and this qualification is an important step forward.
I’m also excited to continue my own development, with the Thrive Trainer the Trainer programme already booked for October. Looking forward to growing my skills further and being able to support even more practitioners, secondary schools and students in the future. 🌈

Persistent absence can lead to academic struggles, social isolation, and declining mental health. Across the country, attendance rates remain significantly below pre-pandemic levels, with pupils struggling to feel safe and ready to learn.

But there is hope. A recent independent study found that overall absence is 3% lower — and severe absence is 15% lower — in schools that use Thrive, compared with those that don’t.

Our Approach helps tackle the underlying issues behind school refusal and disengagement, making it a powerful tool for building stronger attendance outcomes in schools.
