FRIDAY FACTS -CARER PASSPORT South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust
A carer is anyone, including children and adults who looks after a family member, partner or friend who needs help because of their illness, frailty, disability, a mental health problem or an addiction and cannot cope without their support.
The care they give is unpaid.
It can be difficult when someone you care for has to go into hospital. You may want to help care for them. The Carer Passport Scheme will help you do so.
South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust will give you a Carer Passport which will help you in a number of ways, including:-
- Identifies you as a carer
- Helps you to support the person you care for while they are in hospital
- Gives staff information about the patient and how you support them
- Raises awareness of carers and how important they are to patients
- Helps make sure that the hospital support and care for their patients in the best way.

Sunderland creatives!
We are partnering with University of Sunderland through the Sunderland Skills and Inclusion Programme (SSIP) to support individuals, who are either self-employed or employed by a creative business, to identify their training needs and access the support they need.

Through the UKSPF Creative Mentoring and Training Support Programme, independent creative practitioners and employees of creative businesses and organisations based in Sunderland are invited to apply for a bespoke mentoring or training package, which addresses their own development needs and supports future employability.

Keel Crossing Opens Tomorrow!

From Saturday 18 October, Sunderland’s newest landmark, Keel Crossing, will be open permanently, connecting the former Vaux site to Sheepfolds and the Stadium of Light.

Be among the first to walk across this iconic bridge for tomorrow’s match Sunderland AFC vs Wolves 🔴⚪

The city will be busier than usual on Saturday, so if you’re heading to the game, please plan your journey ahead of time.
