Boost Learning and Improvement Community Join our learning and improvement community, and together we'll be the best at getting better…

In the health and care system in the North East and North Cumbria, we want to be the best at getting better – with continuous learning and improvement at the heart of everything we do, and in the way in which we work. Through the sharing of learning, ideas, and good practice, and by trying new things together, we can find solutions to the challenges we face, and support each other to make a difference to the health of people living in our region. Building on past successes like the North East Transformation System and CLIC (Cumbria Learning and Improvement Collaborative), the Boost learning and improvement community brings together people with a passion for improvement, innovation and change in health and care. Boost ultimately serves as a hub for innovation, idea-sharing, networking, and supporting improvement efforts.

💙 Managing organisational change with compassion

NHS leaders are facing tough decisions around cost savings, workforce changes and uncertainty. A new set of resources highlights how compassionate, psychologically safe cultures can help teams navigate change with dignity and support.

Key themes include:

🔹Creating environments where staff feel safe, heard and included
🔹Equipping managers to hold regular, supportive conversations
🔹Using evidence‑based change models (e.g. Kotter, Lewin)
🔹Offering financial wellbeing support during periods of uncertainty
🔹Helping teams navigate redundancy with sensitivity
🔹Exploring flexible retirement to retain skills and support staff wellbeing

These resources aim to help leaders strengthen local practice and support staff through challenging transitions.
