Welcome to Sunderland Recovery College offering a range of free recovery focused educational courses for people with lived mental health experience, their friends and family. The courses are free and designed to contribute to recovery and well-being, supporting people to recognise their own talent and resourcefulness in order to become experts in their own self management; make informed choices and achieve the things they want to in life. Sunderland Recovery College is committed to customer and carer involvement in all aspects of its development, including feedback from students attending courses. We envisage the recovery courses will develop and increase over time and we look forward to your help in doing this. Sunderland Recovery College has a philosophy of developing and delivering and shared decision making.

New Recovery College Prospectus – January Courses Now Available!

We are delighted to announce that our latest Recovery College prospectus is now available. It features a wide range of continuing courses as well as exciting new options starting in January.

Our website has been fully updated with all January course details—take a look and see what inspires you!

Pain and the brain refers to how the brain constructs and interprets pain signals from the body.

Pain is not a direct sensation, but a result of the brain processing information from the nerves and comparing it to past experiences.

Sometimes, the brain can create pain even after an injury has healed, as a way of protecting the body from further damage.
