Neck pain when playing golf?

This video was for a right handed golfer who was getting neck pain after a few rounds of golf. We identified it was more towards the end of his swing when he is being forced towards end of range right rotation in the neck which was problematic and developed this strategy for him.

During the golf swing the neck is driven into end range rotation at speed by the body twisting underneath it in the back swing and all the way to the finish position via the follow through.

To gain the most carryover to golf is important to practice this bottom up neck rotation (where the head is relatively still and the body moves underneath it) rather than a traditional top down approach of the head moving on a fixed body.

We initially started with warning this movement up in standing then tried to dial it in more specifically to golf by recreating the position of being over the ball and then the end position of the follow through.

Whilst the majority of people play to one side its always worthwhile driving the movements in both directions for overall neck health.

Really impressed with dedication throughout the whole process. Not an easy journey getting back to CrossFit following this surgery and the preceeding injury.

Building strong foundations!

Reposted from 1 year post surgery today! This is pretty much the position I have spent the last 12 months. Any time I have been frustrated with my progress reminds me, it’s a marathon and not a sprint, this process is for longevity to not be back where I started. Thank you to for looking after me & keeping my mind on track for the last year. Remaining dedicated to the cause and excited for the next 12 months 💪🏻

At All Things Physio we place a huge emphasis on accurately measuring what we are trying to address.

This helps to direct our treatment and shows patients what their hard work has achieved when we retest at a later date.

We have a number of tools at our disposable within our clinics to be able to measure what matters most on a case by case basis as we believe that no two patients will present the same as everyone is their own unique individual.

If you are not measuring you are just guessing!

Whilst this past year has been very different and challenging at times there has certainly been one key thing that we at All Things Physio will always look back on with great fondness.

We are very fortunate to be in such a great gym, partnered with such an inspiring team of coaches and part of the incredible and resilient community that is Motion Training.

We cannot wait to see the gym open and busy again in the near future and look forward to being part of the furniture for years to come.

At All Things Physio we believe that explaining our diagnosis to our patients and then forming a management plan together is vital towards helping them to achieve their goals.

With each and every patient we will complete a thorough assessment to ascertain which structures are causing symptoms and what may be contributing towards their symptoms.

From there, in dialogue with our patients, we finalise a treatment plan utilising hand on techniques and exercise programmes to help people get back to doing what they love as quickly and effectively as possible.

At All Things Physio we are committed to using scientific principles to guide our treatment.

We will, from the first session to the last, use outcome measures to assess mobility, strength and power. This enables us to identify any asymmetries or when numbers are not within normal ranges.

This approach enables us to not only identify problematic areas to guide our treatment but also ensures that we are able to help prevent future recurrence by ironing out any stiffness or weakness within the system.

Our use of research and scientific principles is what we believe helps set us apart at All Things Physio and, most importantly, delivers the best results for our patients.
