Avenue Health Osteopathy

We have 3 practices based in Surbiton on Ewell Road, at Worcester Park Station & Cheam. Avenue Health offers Osteopathy and Exercise Rehabilitation.

Our aim is to help you lead a full and pain-free life without the use of drugs or surgery. We have a team of friendly, highly skilled and experienced practitioners who believe your body should work as it was designed to. We will investigate the joints, muscles and ligaments in order to treat the primary cause of your condition and not just its symptoms. This way we will enable you to either be totally pain free or have a coping strategy if you have a long-term medical condition so it can be managed on daily basis. You may know Osteopaths and Chiropractors as ‘bone’ (and especially backs and neck) specialists, but we can treat a whole range of conditions including:

Achilles Tendonitis
Arthritic Conditions
Back Pain, Bunions
Disc Problems,
Frozen Shoulder
Joint & Ligament Sprains
Migraine & Headaches
Muscle Pain
Trapped Nerve Pain
Runners Knee,
Plantar Fasciitis
Pregnancy, Sciatica
Sports Injuries

Some of our Osteopaths will provide sports massage appointments. Our Exercise Specialist can help advise you on specific exercises or stretches to do when recovering from an injury or to prevent further injury, teach you how to strengthen your core and pelvic floor muscles, and provide absolute beginners Pilates sessions. 👣 Heel Pain? It Could Be Plantar Fasciitis 👣

If you’re struggling with heel or foot pain that’s worse first thing in the morning, you may be dealing with plantar fasciitis — a common but very frustrating condition.

The plantar fascia is a thick ligament running along the sole of your foot. It supports your arch and absorbs shock when you walk, run or jump. Over time, this ligament can become overstretched and inflamed, leading to pain in the heel, arch or ball of the foot.

Common causes include:
✔️ Flattening of the foot arch (often linked to age, weight gain, pregnancy or standing all day)
✔️ Poor foot alignment due to injury, footwear or genetics
✔️ Overuse from sports or high-impact activities

Typical symptoms:
• Burning or aching heel pain
• Sharp pain in the arch
• Pain worse in the morning
• Discomfort when walking, running or jumping

How we can help
At Avenue Health, our experienced osteopaths treat plantar fasciitis using:
✔️ Soft tissue techniques
✔️ Shockwave therapy to stimulate healing
✔️ Custom orthotics prescribed using advanced Gait Scan technology to correct the underlying cause and prevent recurrence

🏃‍♀️ Runner’s Knee / Jogger’s Knee – What You Need to Know 🏃‍♂️

If you’re experiencing pain around or behind your kneecap, especially during or after exercise, you may be suffering from Runner’s Knee, medically known as Patello-Femoral Pain (PFP).

This condition occurs when the kneecap doesn’t move smoothly in its groove due to muscle imbalance in the thigh, often caused by over-training, lifestyle factors, or changes in foot mechanics such as fallen arches. Over time, this altered tracking places uneven pressure on the cartilage, leading to pain, inflammation, and sometimes grinding or clicking sensations.

Common symptoms include:
• Pain around or behind the kneecap
• Discomfort when running, squatting or kneeling
• Pain walking downstairs or downhill
• Swelling, heat, or clicking in the knee
• Pain after sitting for long periods

🏃‍♀️ How we can help
At Avenue Health, most cases of knee pain respond well to a short course of osteopathic treatment. Our practitioners use hands-on techniques such as soft tissue massage, stretching and joint mobilisation to reduce pain and inflammation.
We also assess the whole body, identifying contributing issues in the hips, ankles or feet. Where necessary, we may recommend exercises, lifestyle changes, or custom orthotics if poor foot mechanics are placing extra strain on your knees.
