🚨 Important Update for Our Patients 🚨
Following recent national news regarding a meningococcal (MenB) outbreak in the Canterbury area, we want to reassure patients and provide clear guidance.
The outbreak, which has been widely reported in the news, has affected a number of young people, particularly students, and has sadly resulted in serious illness and deaths. Public Health authorities are continuing to monitor the situation closely, and vaccination has been expanded to help prevent further spread.
💉 Who this applies to:
Vaccinations are being offered to individuals identified as eligible, including:
• Students who normally live or study at universities in Canterbury (including those who may now have returned home to Lincolnshire)
• Individuals identified as close contacts who have been advised to take antibiotics
• People who attended specific venues linked to the outbreak during the identified dates
💉 What this means locally:
Although this outbreak is centred in Kent, patients in Lincolnshire may be affected if they have recently been in the Canterbury area (for example, students returning home).
If you have been contacted or advised that you are eligible for the MenB vaccine, please contact us at Sutterton Surgery to arrange an appointment.
If you have not been contacted or advised that you are eligible, there is currently no need to take action.
