Cancer is a condition that leads to uncontrolled cell growth within the body, resulting in the formation of growths known as tumors.
Breast Cancer specifically develops in breast tissue, which extends beyond the breasts to include areas up to the collarbone and under the armpit. It’s important to note that everyone possesses breast tissue, regardless of age, race, or gender.

If breast cancer is detected early, treatment can be highly effective. So we are encouraging you to perform monthly self-checks and become familiar with what is normal for your body.

You can also visit the link in the video

If you’re concerned about any unusual changes in your chest, schedule an appointment with your GP as soon as you can.
While many changes are often natural and harmless, it’s always wise to seek professional advice if you’re uncertain!

If you’re in doubt, we’ll check it out!

October is Domestic Abuse Awareness Month

This month is an opportunity to raise awareness about domestic violence, share vital information, and provide support to victims and survivors.

Stay tuned for our upcoming posts throughout the month, where we will further discuss how you can recognise the signs of domestic abuse and explore effective ways to support a friend or family member in need.
Together, we can cultivate a community that not only acknowledges the prevalence of domestic abuse but also takes proactive measures toward prevention and healing. By educating yourself and others, you can empower individuals to break the silence and seek help.

In recognition of Baby Loss Awareness Week, we're thrilled to spotlight the outstanding accomplishments of our dedicated team member, Claire, whose commitment to both philanthropy and athletic excellence is truly inspiring.

Claire ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon, running through the heart of London past iconic landmarks like Big Ben and St Paul's Cathedral - all whilst raising money for , a charity dedicated to preventing baby loss. Claire also ran a "not-for-profit" tuck shop at Tudor Practice with every penny going directly to the cause.

The very fact Claire committed to these charitable acts a few months ago is a reminder that raising awareness isn't confined to a particular week but is a continuous process.

We also need to shout out our special guest, Cooper the Dog, who cheered Claire on before photobombing her moment - a reminder that support comes in many forms.

We wish Claire and Cooper the very best in their future marathons (Claire is always up for a personal challenge) and charitable causes.

Thank you, Claire. We are super proud of you! 👏🏼✨️💐

Hypo Awareness Week

This week, we’re raising awareness about hypoglycemia — also known as low blood sugar. It’s a condition that can affect people with diabetes, especially those using insulin or certain medications.

Recognising the signs early can make a real difference.

Common symptoms include:

- shakiness or trembling
- sweating
- hunger
- confusion or difficulty concentrating
- feeling anxious or irritable

If left untreated, hypoglycemia can become serious — so it’s important to act quickly by eating or drinking something sugary (like glucose tablets, fruit juice, or a sugary snack) and following up with a more substantial carbohydrate source.

At Sutton Coldfield Group Practice, we encourage all our patients with diabetes to:

✅ check blood glucose levels regularly
✅ carry a source of fast-acting sugar
✅ let family, friends, and colleagues know how to help in an emergency
✅ make an appointment to see us if you experience frequent low blood sugars

Our aim is to promote understanding and help everyone living with diabetes stay safe and well. 💙
