Why would my baby need to see an Osteopath? And will my baby get clicked like in adult treatment

The question I get asked a lot, and my first answer is baby treatment is done with cranial osteopathy which is a gentle form of treatment with subtle techniques and no clicking, most babies fall asleep during the treatment.

There are many reasons you may want to bring your baby to see an osteopath, sometimes a check over after birth to help their entrance to the world be as relaxed as possible as they start to develop. But babies that feel tense and look uncomfortable may also be restless and unsettled and make a lot of grunting noises as well as arching their backs or bringing their knees to their chest.

If you are struggling on your breast feeding journey we look at any tension that may be causing them to struggle which can involve intra oral work especially if they have undergone a tongue procedure to help their recovery and for you both to enjoy breastfeeding together.

But if you have any questions please send me a message!

Samantha Owen M.Ost

I graduated from the European School of Osteopathy with an intergrated Masters of Osteopathy over 5 years which involved 2 years of clinical Supervision in a teaching clinic with support from qualified and experienced osteopaths giving me a total of 1,000 clinical hours.

I found Osteopathy through Canoe Slalom where I participated in competitions in, however I become injured and went through operations and rehabilitation to get me back into sport which involved an osteopath whom guided me back into sport and where Osteopathy helped me overcome my injury.

I then went onto study Sports and Exericise Science which gave me an insight into manual therapy and is where I researched Osteopathy, with observations with an Osteopath and I then went onto Study Osteopathy, where I found that Osteopathy is a way of treating the body as a whole, to get the body working as effectively as possible to aid in recovery and help people in day to day life and is way of treating people of all ages.

I am registered with the General Osteopathic Council, number 9728
