Did you know that you have the power to control how quickly you age? 😱👵

Most people think ageing is out of their control, but we’re here to tell you that (most of it) is actually in your control!

Here are 3 of the biggest contributors to premature skin ageing:

🧴1. Not wearing SPF daily - yes, we know you’re probably tired of hearing it, but there’s a reason we repeat it. Up to 80% of visible premature skin ageing is caused by UV exposure. Fine lines, pigmentation, collagen breakdown, most of it comes from the sun. Yes, even in the UK, and yes even when it’s cloudy.

😩2. Chronic Stress - stress doesn’t just affect your mind, it affects your cells too! Studies have shown individuals with high stress levels can have biological ageing markers similar to someone up to 10 years older than their actual age.

🍩3. Lifestyle Factors - smoking, drinking, poor diet and little exercise can have a huge impact on the rate in which we age. Smoking introduces toxins that reduce blood flow, break down skin elasticity, often resulting in a dull complexion. High sugar intake causes glycation, damaging collagen. Lack of sleep, and high alcohol consumption further impair skin repair and elasticity.

Ageing is natural, but premature ageing is preventable! There are lots of things you can do to slow down the ageing process so that you look and feel your best for as long as possible.

This is one of Laura’s AviClear patients who came to us last year struggling with persistent, stubborn acne.
