As Christmas Eve arrives, we wanted to take a moment to thank you for the support you have shown St Raphael’s Hospice this year.

It has been another tough financial year for the entire hospice sector. So whether you have made a donation, volunteered your time, visited our shops, taken part in an event, or supported us in memory of someone special, your support has ensured we can continue providing our compassionate care to patients and families when they need it most.

🎁 £25 – A roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings to a patient and loved one

You made the Santa Dash magical! 🎅✨

We had an amazing day at this year's Santa Dash! A huge thank you to over 500 dashers who joined us and brought the festive spirit!

It was amazing to see the park come alive with a sea of red Santas, all moving at their own pace, running, jogging, skipping, or walking. Every step you took makes a real difference to the care and support we provide to our patients and their families.

What a special weekend at the Hospice 🌟 🌟

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who attended our Light up a Life services at the weekend. It was so wonderful to see our community come together to honour the memory of loved ones and celebrate their lasting impact on our lives.

The candles we lit, the names we held close and the moments of quiet togetherness made the weekend truly meaningful.

✨ Tomorrow and Sunday, 6 and 7 December, we’ll gather for our annual Light up a Life services, here at the Hospice, for a special evening of music, remembrance, and reflection. ✨

Gates open at 5.15pm and the service begins at 6.15pm.

Spaces are free but limited, so please do book if you’re planning to join us. We would love to see you there.

Thank you for a magical Christmas Market! 🎅✨

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us! We had such a fantastic time celebrating with you all. The day was made extra special with a visit from Santa in his grotto and a surprise drop-in from the fire brigade! 🎅🚒

And of course, a massive thank you to our amazing stallholders for bringing so much sparkle and spirit to the event💜

Did you see us on Channel 5 News last week?

The programme explored the ongoing funding challenges facing St Raphael’s and the wider hospice sector, and included powerful words from Georgina, who generously shared her family’s experience of the care we provided to her son, Alastair.

Georgina said,
“Death became peaceful, which meant that we were able to leave here knowing that everything that could possibly be done for him was done, and that he was free from pain and at peace.”

To mark , we're taking this opportunity to open up conversations about loss and the many ways it touches our lives.

Grief is a natural part of who we are as humans, yet many find it difficult to talk about. Feelings of loss can manifest with different symptoms. As we are all unique, our experience of grief will be too.

To offer support during this week, our Counselling Team has put together some gentle advice on caring for both mind and body while navigating bereavement. We hope these suggestions provide some comfort. You can find these suggestions on our website homepage.
