We are looking forward to staging another epic trail race, our Magna Carta event is approaching on 21st February 2026. Our new Magna Carta coin medal denotes the 100th anniversary of this historic treaty.

This is a scenic, flat and fast course on an out / back loop from the Wraysbury Skiff & Punting Club towards Old Windsor Lock the route is ideal for runners that want a fast time and it's exhilarating scenery all along this lovely stretch of the river Thames.

Our Magna Carta marathon race is also officially recognised by the 2 Oceans Ultra 56km Marathon as a qualifier for this epic event, definitely one of the most scenic road ultra marathons I have run in South Africa.

The drone footage on my homepage captivates this historic site where the treaty of Magna Carta was signed in Runnymede by King John on 15th June 2015.

Entries are available via our Eventrac link: https://www.hermesrunning.com/magna-carta/

We look forward to seeing all our trail runners in 2026 for another epic race on this historic section of the Thames path.

As the next Bewl Water race series is fast approaching on Saturday 13th September we have had an awesome response from our tenacious runners, charities and the great staff at Bewl Water too.

It's going to be another epic trail running event. We have some great activities that will be happening on race day including a fabulous DJ called Martyn from Bells & Beats. Our DJ will be playing an eclectic mix of 80's music to keep our runners motivated as you run your laps of the lovely Bewl Water reservoir. https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100093152623838

There will also be a Saxophone quartet called SaxoFonic led by front man Jonathan. Their quartet will be playing some inspiring Saxophone tunes for our runners during the event.

We also have a fantastic sponsor Oliver the MD from a high end online sports glasses company called Panda Optics and they will be selling their sports glasses on race day right beside the starting area on race day. You can view their stellar product range via this link https://www.pandaoptics.co.uk

Our event will be professionally timed by my good friend Liam at Sports Systems chip timing https://www.sportsystems.co.uk
all your results will be available as provisional results directly after you have completed your race.

Our professional sports photographer Aaron from Gareth Parker Photography gareth_parker_photography will be doing your photo's and these will be geo tagged and ready for you to purchase between 24hrs - 48hrs after the event.

We still have spaces available, so if you still want to sign up you can do so via our online advance entry platform via Eventrac.

Hi Bewl Water Runners

We’ve been out marking the run-route ready for another epic trail run. The course conditions are really good albeit that there are a number of sections that are very rutted and some muddy puddles just to challenge you a bit more.

We have a mass participation field with myriad runners from different countries that will be participating. We will also have a DJ playing an eclectic mix of great 80s music to inspire you at the start and when you are doing your laps.

We are looking forward to another epic trail race the Magna Carta event is approaching on 26th April. We have a with a great multinational field including runners from Australia, USA, France, Russia, South Africa and Belgium that will be taking part.

This is a scenic, flat and fast course on an out / back loop from the Wraysbury Skiff & Punting Club towards Old Windsor Lock the route is ideal for runners that want a fast time and it's exhilarating scenery all along this lovely stretch of the river Thames.

The drone footage on my homepage captivates this historic site where the treaty of Magna Carta was signed in Runnymede by King John on 15th June 2015.

The Magna Carta awards for podium winners in the male and female category are made of slate and are bespoke coasters that look great.

Our Magna Carta medals have the terms of the treaty of Magna Carta emblazoned on them and are bottle opener keyring medals so these too are unique.

Wishing all our runners a wonderful 2025. It's exhilarating to stage races and watch runners achieve their potential as it takes dedication, tenacity and true grit to aspire to success within the sporting arena and all the diverse goals that we set for ourselves.

We have had a myriad of multi-national runners and lots of first time runners completing their first races at Hermes Running events, and it's so rewarding to me as a Race Director to play a part in inspiring runners of all standards to push their boundaries and enjoy the pure challenge of running on some stunning trails within Surrey and Kent.

Our marshals are truly fantastic and so is everyone in our support crew. We look forward to seeing you again at our epic events and thanks to everyone for supporting my events.

Hi Runners

As the date for the forthcoming Thames Meander is approaching soon we wanted to update you on the medals we'll be handing out to all our successful runners.

The medals will depict the Hawker Hurricane MK1 medal which was manufactured between 1937- 1944. There were a total number of 14487 of these spectacular planes. Literally a few miles along the river Thames is the Hawker Centre in Kingston-upon-Thames which was the original base of World Aviation Communications. The historical significance is renown as 45000 Kingston designed aircraft were built since 1914.

The medals for the forthcoming Thames Meander will depict the Hawker Hurricane MK1 so we hope that you all like them. We look forward to seeing all our runners for another epic trail race soon.

If you would like to join our runners that have already signed up here is the Eventrac entry link.

Thanks to all the runners that supported my Bewl Water event on Saturday 14th September it was a great success. The conditions were very nice all round with sunny skies, a light breeze and only a few muddy trail sections that our runners had to contend with.

We also had another multi-national field with runners from the Netherlands, Poland, Lithuania, Spain and South Africa running the race and quite a few first time runners in addition to some more experienced veteran participants.

Our runners posted some stellar times, the podium winners in all the race distances excelled. The Ultra Marathon 50km CR was also broken by Samuel Evans (Eynsford Running Club) he posted an inspirational time of 3.41.19 breaking this year's Bewl Water May CR of 4:16.00 set by Lachlan Arthur.

Here are the full Sports Systems Chip Timing which were uploaded directly after the race thanks to our professional team.

Our race photography was also very professionally done by Gareth Parker Photography these photo's can be purchased now.

Running Marathons.
Ever dreamed of conquering a marathon or ultra marathon? Here are some training tips from a runner that achieved this consistency having run 468 marathons / ultras. ‍

Building Endurance:Mileage Matters: Aim for 3 regular 10-mile runs, with a weekend long run (18-20 miles) to reach a 50-60 mile weekly base (ramping this up to 60-80 miles to try and aim for a 2:50hrs finish).

Variety is Key: Spice up your runs with fartleks (speed bursts) and tempo sessions for a well-rounded training plan.

Strength & Recovery: Hit the Gym: Low-weight, high-rep exercises 2x a week build strength, better your core and to prevent injuries.

Fuel Your Body: Focus on high protein/fat & low carbs. Complex carbs from fruits & veggies provide sustained energy.
Hydration is Key: Water is your best friend. Limit alcohol for optimal performance.

Mindset & Motivation: Stay Positive: Read inspiring running books and surround yourself with supportive running buddies to stay focused.

Celebrate Victories: Every run is a win! Enjoy the journey and reward yourself for reaching your goals.

Training / Goal setting: These are just some tips, adjust it to your own pace and goals. The motivation comes from within and your mindset will always be the most important aspect of achieving your long-term running goals!
