We’re proud to support 2026 🩵, highlighting the need for better healthcare and improved access to innovative treatments. As our Rare, Orphan and Complex Therapy Manager, Clair Salt‑Vowles, shares:

💬 “Many patients wait years for a diagnosis, a journey that is both physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming. People with rare diseases deserve the same level of recognition, support, and understanding as those with more well‑known conditions.

Seeing how the right support can restore not just health, but independence, dignity, and hope - that’s the reason I do this job. It reminds me that behind every service that HealthNet provide is a real person whose life can genuinely change.” 🗨️

🔎 Rare Disease: Shining a light on ITP...

Primary Chronic Immune Thrombocytopenia (ITP) is a rare autoimmune condition where the body mistakenly destroys its own platelets - making bruising, bleeding, and fatigue part of everyday life for many people.

Affecting around 3-4 adults per 100,000 each year in the UK, it’s a condition that often goes unseen, unheard, and misunderstood.

With approaching, we want to help raise awareness of what life with truly looks like - the challenges people face, the resilience they show, and the importance of greater visibility and understanding.

What living with ITP can mean 👉
• Invisible fatigue that persists.
• Bruising or bleeding from small bumps or simple activities.
• Unpredictable symptoms.
• Limitations on sports, hobbies, or work due to bleeding risk.
• Emotional strain, especially when others can’t see what they’re going through.

At HealthNet Homecare, we work with and pharmaceutical partners to bring specialist care into the home, reducing hospital visits, easing the burden of treatment, and helping patients feel more confident and in control 🏡.

We stand with everyone living with rare diseases 💜

⭐️Shining a light on Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH).

We interviewed two patients, Zola & Ife, living with a rare, life-threatening blood disorder - Paroxysmal Nocturnal Hemoglobinuria (PNH).

PNH develops when part of your immune system attacks and damages your red blood cells and platelets, which can develop at any age and affects males and females in equal numbers

💬We asked Zola what he’s learnt most about himself since diagnosis, “I’ve learned a lot about myself since being diagnosed – mainly how resilient I am. Having to deal with something that’s invisible to most people is tough, but you just get stronger and tougher.”💬

By generating awareness of this condition, along with the 300 million people worldwide also living with a rare disease, we can create healthcare solutions that allow a better quality of life 💙

At HealthNet Homecare, we believe that no patient should feel alone, especially when navigating a rare condition.

“You can’t receive complex treatments safely at home” – wrong! ❌

With highly trained nurses and robust safety protocols, patients with rare conditions can safely receive tailored treatments at home, with the same level of care and monitoring as in a hospital.

This week, we’re putting a spotlight on Rare and Orphan Diseases, ahead of on the 28th February 💙

Rare diseases are conditions that affect a small number of people, often with complex and unique treatment needs. Orphan diseases are similar - they’re rare conditions that may not have widely available therapies, making access to care even more important.

At HealthNet Homecare, we cover over 59 rare and orphan therapies, delivering life changing treatments to over 17,300 patients across the UK. This supports care ranging from rare inherited metabolic diseases, such as Lysosomal Storage Disorders (L*D), to very rare kidney conditions, such as Atypical Haemolytic Uraemic Syndrome (aHUS).

Providing care at home isn’t just convenient - it’s empowering, helping patients feel in control of their treatment journey 🌟

Ramadan Mubarak from The HealthNet Team 🌙

To all who are observing, we wish you a month filled with peace, reflection, and good health.

For many of our patients who manage their treatment independently at home, Ramadan can bring changes to daily routines, mealtimes, hydration, and sleep patterns. It’s important to plan ahead so you can continue your treatment safely and confidently while fasting.

If you self-administer your medicine and need guidance on managing your treatment, medication schedule, or care routine while fasting, please don’t hesitate to contact your consultant for personalised advice.

Your health and safety remain our priority.
