With temperatures set to drop, here's a handy guide for supporting those with dementia, as well as the elderly and vulnerable in cold weather

With temperatures forecasted to drop across the UK over the next few days, it’s important to make sure that we’re looking out for our loved ones living with dementia.

Winter can be a particularly difficult time for somebody living with dementia. The bad weather and colder temperatures can bring specific challenges, and can sometimes make symptoms temporarily worse.

They may not always be able to communicate that they are cold – or they might not even recognise it themselves.

Perception issues can also make it difficult for someone with dementia to see icy patches on a pavement or understand that a surface may be extra slippery.

So make sure to check in regularly on loved ones, friends and neighbours living with dementia, and follow our useful tips to help support them through the winter.

At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918, an armistice between Germany and England was signed. While the Great War, as it was called, didn't formally end until June 1919 with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, this was the start of the end to hostilities. Each year since we have remembered our fallen and honoured those who continue to dedicate their lives to our safety and security.

This morning we visited Mercia Academy for a Remembrance Day Service. It was wonderful to commemorate our fallen, and to do so with a younger generation who are upholding these special moments. We have decorated our home with lovely poppies to pay our respects

Today is Remembrance Sunday, a day for commemorating those who given their lives for our country and those who continue to serve; to honour their bravery and remember the fallen.

We had such a wonderful time making memories together this evening with our firework display. We enjoyed fireworks, sparklers and warming hot chocolates with our ones. Thank you to Pyrotex Fireworks for the fireworks - they were amazing
