🌿 A New Month, A Time to Reflect and Remember 🌿

As we welcome the beginning of March, we take a moment to pause and reflect on the families we have had the privilege of caring for over the past week at the close of February. Each life we honour is unique, and it is always our greatest responsibility to ensure every farewell reflects the person at its heart.

On Friday, we said goodbye to Derek, a gentleman whose creativity and imagination brought joy to so many. A true cardboard enthusiast, he spent his time crafting incredible costumes, decorations, and even a remarkable scale replica of Newhall Skate Park, a testament to his passion and talent.

In keeping with his wishes, his farewell was as unique as he was. His family chose a beautifully personalised cardboard coffin adorned with photos of his wonderful creations, a touching tribute to a life lived creatively and fully. Thank you to Steve Soult Limited for making this happen. The Skate Park took pride of place cushioned with sprays lovingly made by Katie Sweetpeas Florist.

A service led by Karen in the Cedar Chapel raised a smile and many tears for a Dad, Grandad, Brother and a friend to many who will be greatly missed.

Our Director, Helen, was deeply inspired by his story. As a mark of respect, she created a handmade tie and pocket square inspired by his craft, ensuring that even the smallest details honoured the things he loved most.

Moments like these remind us that every farewell tells a story.

As we step into a new month, we carry those stories with us, grateful for the trust families place in us to care for their loved ones with compassion, dignity, and respect.

If you need guidance or support, we are always here to help.

Our thoughts are with Gary and Kevin and their families. May you be at peace Derek 🤍

We were greeted with some sunshine this morning on Norman’s final journey. As we approached, Norman’s children and family were waiting at the roadside, ready to guide him home for the last time.

The crematorium was full of family, friends, love and music, everything Norman treasured.

A beautiful guitar floral tribute to reflect Norman’s passion and a fitting service led by Nick Upton.

May you be at peace Noman, reunited with Rita.

This evening, our thoughts and love are with Norman’s family and friends.

Today, on Valentine’s Day, we’re reminded that love never truly leaves us, it simply changes the way it lives in our hearts.

For many, this day may feel different. The chair at the table may be empty, the familiar voice quiet, the warm embrace now only a memory. And yet, the love you shared remains, steady, enduring, and deeply woven into who you are.

At Shilvocks, we hold space for that love. We honour the bonds that continue beyond goodbye, and we gently remember those who are no longer by our side, but forever in our hearts.

If today feels heavy, you are not alone. Love does not end with loss, it carries on in remembrance, in stories, in quiet moments, and in the light we keep for them.

Our thoughts are with you today and always.

With compassion and care,

Helen and all at Shilvocks Funeral Directors x

Today we had the privilege of supporting the family of Pauline Anne Collier at the Willow Chapel, Bretby Crematorium.

In honour of Pauline’s favourite colour, the Funeral Director wore lilac as a personal tribute. The service, led by celebrant Nick Upton was filled with warmth and reflected the deep love Pauline held for her family. Although the weather was rainy, the service itself was light, meaningful, and full of heartfelt memories.

A beautiful floral cross tribute, created by Katie Sweetpeas Florist, rested on Pauline’s coffin and provided a touching reflection of belief, love and remembrance.

Our thoughts are with Pauline’s family, friends and loved ones this evening 💜

Today, we bid farewell to a much-loved lady who will be deeply missed by her devoted husband, Dennis, and by her children and grandchildren and all those who had the honour of meeting her.

As we made our way into Bretby Crematorium, soft shades of pink appeared on the horizon, with our Director Helen, also wearing a pink tie and square, a fitting and touching tribute to Carole’s favourite colour.

Family floral tributes and a bespoke Order of Service reflected Carole’s love of her garden and her joy in creating beautiful hanging baskets and the photos within told her love of life and her family.

The service, led by Karen, was truly beautiful, one that raised a smile and gently brought a tear. Thank you.

Our thoughts are with Dennis and all of Carole’s family and friends this evening.

May you be at rest đź©·

Today, on World Cancer Day, 4th February, we pause to remember and reflect.

At Shilvocks Funeral Directors, we hold in our thoughts all those whose lives have been touched by cancer. Those who have sadly lost a loved one, those currently living with cancer and undergoing treatment, and everyone supporting someone they care about through an incredibly difficult time.

Behind every diagnosis is a family, a story, and a great deal of love. Today we remember those we have lost, honour their memory, and stand alongside those still fighting with strength and courage.

If you wish, you are welcome to leave a message of support, in remembrance, or, if you feel comfortable, share a special memory in the comments below.

Our thoughts are with you all. 🤍
