🌿 A New Month, A Time to Reflect and Remember 🌿
As we welcome the beginning of March, we take a moment to pause and reflect on the families we have had the privilege of caring for over the past week at the close of February. Each life we honour is unique, and it is always our greatest responsibility to ensure every farewell reflects the person at its heart.
On Friday, we said goodbye to Derek, a gentleman whose creativity and imagination brought joy to so many. A true cardboard enthusiast, he spent his time crafting incredible costumes, decorations, and even a remarkable scale replica of Newhall Skate Park, a testament to his passion and talent.
In keeping with his wishes, his farewell was as unique as he was. His family chose a beautifully personalised cardboard coffin adorned with photos of his wonderful creations, a touching tribute to a life lived creatively and fully. Thank you to Steve Soult Limited for making this happen. The Skate Park took pride of place cushioned with sprays lovingly made by Katie Sweetpeas Florist.
A service led by Karen in the Cedar Chapel raised a smile and many tears for a Dad, Grandad, Brother and a friend to many who will be greatly missed.
Our Director, Helen, was deeply inspired by his story. As a mark of respect, she created a handmade tie and pocket square inspired by his craft, ensuring that even the smallest details honoured the things he loved most.
Moments like these remind us that every farewell tells a story.
As we step into a new month, we carry those stories with us, grateful for the trust families place in us to care for their loved ones with compassion, dignity, and respect.
If you need guidance or support, we are always here to help.
Our thoughts are with Gary and Kevin and their families. May you be at peace Derek 🤍
