📢 Help Us Help You – Label Your Samples! 🧪

To make sure we can process your urine or other samples quickly and accurately, please remember to clearly label them with your full name, date of birth, and the date the sample was taken.

Unlabelled samples can’t be tested, and we don’t want to miss anything important!

Thank you for helping us provide the best care possible. 😊

Flu Clinic – Saturday 18th October!

Our next flu vaccination clinic is coming up on Saturday 18th October!

If you're eligible, you’ll have received an invitation via SMS. Just a quick reminder:

Over 65s – please come in the morning

Under 65s – please attend in the afternoon

If you missed our previous clinic on the 11th and are eligible, we’d love to see you on the 18th—just pop in during the time slot for your age group. The vaccines differ slightly depending on age, which is why we’re keeping the sessions separate.

We look forward to welcoming you and helping our community stay healthy and flu-free this season!

We've got some exciting news .....

Swanage Medical Practice is now an official parkrun practice. This means we’re officially supporting our local parkrun - a fantastic event that encourages physical activity, boosts mental wellbeing, and helps people meet and connect with their community.

What is Parkrun?
Parkrun is a free 5k event, open to everyone – whether you walk, run, volunteer, or just come to support. Durlston parkrun is the most beautiful in the country. It's also the hilliest in the country - so you'll be breaking records just walking it!

How to Get Involved:
Sign up for Parkrun (it’s free) at https://www.parkrun.org.uk/register/ (not essential, but means your time is recorded).
Add your name to the sign-up sheet opposite the kettle in the staff area so I can get an idea of numbers.
Turn up!

https://www.parkrun.org.uk/durlstoncountrypark/

parkrun is free and you only need to register once, regardless of how many different events you visit and whether you intend to walk, jog, run, volunteer or do a combination.

It's that time of year again – flu season is just around the corner, and we’re getting ready to help keep our community protected!

👶 Children First:
We’ve started sending out invites for flu vaccines to all 2- and 3-year-olds. Parents and carers – check your texts for a direct booking link! Children aged 0–17 who are in at-risk groups will be invited soon, along with pregnant women.

🧑‍🦳 The Rest of the Population:
If you're aged 18–64 and in an at-risk group, or aged 65 and over, your invites will be coming in October. Keep an eye on this page, your text messages, and the post for updates.

🏠 Housebound & Care Homes:
Dorset Healthcare University Foundation Trust (DHUFT) will be taking care of vaccinations for housebound patients and care home residents.

Thanks for being part of this year’s flu campaign – together, we’re keeping each other safe and healthy!

Dental Services in Dorset

As a frontline GP Practice, we are often the first point of contact for patients who are experiencing dental pain particularly those that are not registered with an NHS Dental Practice. Patients can often become very upset when they are advised that GP surgeries cannot provide dental care.

To support patients NHS Dorset Primary Care Directorate have commissioned 29 dental practices across Dorset to provide one-off urgent care. The most straightforward route for patients to access this service is via NHS 111.

For further guidance and FAQs on accessing appropriate dental care for urgent or longer-term treatment please follow the link below to the NHS Dorset website:

I have an urgent dental problem and cannot find an NHS dentist. How can I get help? If you develop an urgent dental issue, telephone 111. Patients will receive a medical triage and dental triage by an appropriately qualified clinician so that they can understand the urgency of the treatment needed.....
