✨ Treatments I No Longer Offer as an Aesthetic Doctor ✨

As the field of aesthetics evolves, so does my clinical practice. Experience has taught me that not every treatment stands the test of time — or evidence.

🚫 Plasma Pen Treatments
While initially popular for skin tightening, they often cause unnecessary trauma, prolonged downtime, and unpredictable healing. In many cases, the risks outweigh the benefits.

🚫 Thread Lifts
Although they promise an instant lift, results are short-lived and can lead to complications such as asymmetry, puckering, or thread migration. Modern, collagen-stimulating treatments achieve more natural and lasting results with less discomfort.

My focus is now on evidence-based rejuvenation — treatments that enhance skin health, stimulate collagen, and deliver predictable, natural outcomes 🌿💆‍♀️

✨ Fordyce Spots on the Lips ✨

Have you ever noticed tiny, pale or white spots along the lip line or inside the mouth? These are called Fordyce spots 👄. They’re completely harmless and very common – in fact, most people have them, but they become more noticeable as we age or when the lips are stretched.

🔎 What are they?
They’re simply overactive sebaceous (oil) glands that appear on the lips or oral mucosa. They’re not contagious, not an infection, and don’t require medical treatment.

💡 Aesthetic treatment options (for those who feel self-conscious):
✨ Laser therapy – can reduce their appearance by targeting the sebaceous glands
✨ Microneedling / fractional RF – improves texture and blends the spots with surrounding tissue
✨ Chemical peels (light/targeted) – sometimes help smooth the lip surface

💉 What about lip fillers?
Lip fillers don’t remove Fordyce spots, but by adding hydration and plumpness to the lips, they can make the spots appear less obvious. In some cases, however, filler may slightly stretch the skin, making them more visible – results vary person to person.

🌟 The key is an individualised approach – some people embrace them as a normal feature, while others prefer subtle treatments to soften their appearance.

📢 ⚠️ Patient Safety Alert: Botulism Cases from Unsafe Aesthetic Treatments

🚨 UKHSA has confirmed 38 cases of iatrogenic botulism (June–July 2025) in England — all linked to botulinum toxin injections.

🧪 Most involved:
▪️ Unlicensed botulinum toxin products
▪️ Non-clinical treatment settings
▪️ Unregulated practitioners

Botulism is a serious, life-threatening condition caused by toxins that can affect breathing, muscle control, and the nervous system.

💉 What this means:
As aesthetic professionals, we must raise awareness and educate the public:
✔️ Choose qualified medical practitioners
✔️ Only use licensed products
✔️ Prioritise safety over cheap deals
