It still seems far too early to be writing a Christmas post but as it’s nearly a year since the last one I had better just get on with it! They say that as you get older the years go quicker but 2025 has been a short sprint!!!

My main reflection this year is what an incredible community we have in these villages and surrounding area. My personal thank you’s firstly go to my family, , and who give that unwavering support when life throws you things!

On wider reflection there are so many local businesses I want to thank. We work hand in hand, all with the same aim of improving the health, fitness and wellbeing of our community. I will now attempt to list them but please give me a nudge if I forget anyone!







A huge thank you to all the staff at the surrounding village GP surgeries, the hospital consultants as well as Momentm Health Cambridge.

My final hugest thank you goes to you, the patient. There is laughter, there are tears, but mostly there is friendship and sheer determination between us to get you back doing the things you love. Thank you for choosing Swavesey Physio and may I take this opportunity to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a New Year of good health and happiness.

Time to celebrate the achievements of Dr Bruce Grimley who is known to Swavesey Physio. Not only has this inspiring man made a full recovery since fracturing his hip and shoulder in 2024. He has recently won 3rd place at the European’s Duathlon and 2 months later came 4th at The World’s Duathlon where he beat both the European Champions! Bruce really has taken “get back on your bike” quite literally and has achieved his life long ambition! Congratulations Bruce for your success and determination. Good luck on this “Jeffing” stage where we build your running back up for the next event in your diary! Best of luck. Susannah

With Lewis Moody’s recent devastating diagnosis of MND, having noticed some “weakness of his shoulder” this hits home the absolute importance of a thorough assessment and follow-up. The most awkward situation I find in my profession is if a friend or family asks me to “have a quick look” at their current ailment. Regardless of how well I know you or how many favours I might owe you, there will be nothing quick about my assessment! I allow 1 hour minimum for every assessment regardless of “how straight forward” the patient might think their condition is. I will ask you questions about your condition and learn about it’s “behaviour” for approximately the first 20mins whilst I build up my working diagnosis. The next 30mins I will carry out specific tests to prove or disprove this. At this point if I feel I have enough evidence for the diagnosis I will start to treat and will reassess at every follow-up. If I need further support for my diagnosis I may choose to refer for imaging or a specialist opinion. It can be incredibly difficult especially if you see a fit, young individual in front of you and you don’t want to cause any further cause for concern. But gosh, this is a reminder how important we all are as practitioners, to act as sieves to “catch” the unexpected. Wishing Lewis and his family strength and hope at this time.🙏

Get your winter vaccinations booked, maybe organise that GP appointment you’ve been putting off or that menopause review to help pull yourself through this tricky time.
