This year’s Children’s Mental Health Week theme is ‘This is my place’ 💛

Belonging isn’t about behaving better or trying harder to fit in.
It’s about emotional safety.

When children feel they belong, their nervous system settles.
When their nervous system settles, learning, confidence and connection follow.

True belonging means children don’t have to shrink, mask or change who they are to be accepted.
It means the adults, systems and environments around them adapt instead.

This week I’ll be sharing simple, brain-based ways to help children feel safer in themselves, in friendships, in school and in the wider community 💛

Because every child deserves to know
“This is my place.”

Holding my book in my hands for the FIRST time today and honestly… wow 🥹📖

So many emotions, my ADHD brain was fully off the charts 😂 the excitement was very real!!

My first ever children’s book is almost ready to be advertised for sale!! 📖💛

I wrote a children’s book for anxious minds 🧠
It gently teaches one of my favourite calming techniques, anchoring, through a warm, comforting story children can come back to again and again ✨

This book is also a tribute to my mum, who passed away in 2022 💛 She was the most positive, kind and comforting person and that feeling is woven through every single page 🌱

When emotions hit hard, your brain doesn’t need logic 🧠
It needs safety 🤍

That’s where your senses come in 👀👂✋👅👃

Simple things, done on purpose, can help bring your nervous system down a notch when everything feels too much 🌊

This isn’t about fixing your feelings.
It’s about getting through the moment without making it harder for yourself 🫶

Pick one sense.
Pick one small thing.
That’s enough for now ✨

If all you’ve done today is rest… this is for you 🤍

Some days aren’t for pushing, achieving, or doing more.
Some days are for slowing down, breathing, and just noticing how you’re actually feeling ☁️

If today has been a rest day, that’s okay. That’s not laziness, that’s your nervous system asking for care 💭

Taking a moment to breathe, noticing what you can see, hear, and feel in your body helps bring you back to the present and gently reminds your brain that you’re safe right now 🌿

You don’t need to fix anything.
You don’t need to have it all together.
Just being here is enough 🤍

Save this for a day when you need permission to slow down, and if you want more gentle reminders like this, you’re very welcome here 💙

Had a VERY exciting meeting this morning with and ! Evelyn has now finished illustrating the last page so we are getting ready to move to the published stage and I am BUZZING!! 🤩🤩
