Pizza Perfection!....

Residents at Cheriton had a fab time last week on their virtual cruise when it stopped off in Italy! They made pizzas with loads of different toppings.

There was quite a discussion as to what was the best combination...but in the end they all disappeared pretty quickly so we reckon they were all fantastic!

Enjoying Jamaica…

This week’s cruise stop for our lovely Cheriton residents has been the Caribbean island of Jamaica.

Everyone enjoyed making lanterns, which looked amazing when it got dark and they were lit. This was by way of honouring the Jamaican lantern parade.

Then at the weekend we threw a party, with a disco and loads of yummy food. There was dancing and entertainment which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. Wonder where we’ll stop next?

Perfect Pooch…

Here are some fab pictures of our first visit from our ‘pat dog’ at Cheriton. He was an instant hit with our residents who loved meeting him and can’t wait for him to be back.

Pet therapy is a really useful tool to help keep people engaged and calm. It is also a wonderful tactile experience for our residents. We look forward to many more sessions like this one.

Hawaiian Party …..

Residents at Cheriton decided they had had enough of the recent cold weather and went tropical this week with a Hawaiian themed day at the home.

Cocktails, pineapples and umbrellas were the order of the day as residents enjoyed the ’sunshine’ feel of the Party. A lot of laughs were had by all and residents loved wearing their garlands.

The question is where next?

Getting ready for Christmas.....

Cheriton has started to look lovely thank to the efforts of staff ad residents, putting up lots of decorations and dressing Christmas Trees.

The end results, as you can see form the pictures, look really lovely. Everyone is ready for Christmas now, and the snow outside has made it feel all the more festive.

All we need is Santa now!

Halloween Fun at Cheriton…..

It’s that spooky time of year again and the staff at Cheriton have been having a lot of fun decorating the home and dressing up in all manner of spooktacular additions to their uniform.

We particularly liked the liberal use of spiders and their webs!

Our lovely residents thought it was great fun to see all the different get ups and have thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the fun. They particularly liked some of the fantastic Pumpkin lantern carving, with some pretty scary looking Jack ‘o Lanterns being created.

We hope you are enjoying Halloween as much as everyone at Cheriton is.

Looking back on a great weekend....

Our residents had long looked forward to the Jubilee celebrations and when last weekend came round they were more than ready for a good time.

We were able to take the party outdoors which was great. Plenty of entertainment, singing, food and drink and everywhere decked with Union Jacks in all shapes and sizes.

Everyone had a great time - there were a lot of laughs and smiling faces to be seen. We wish it was a Jubilee every year!

Tasty Puds!….

Here at Cheriton Care Home there’s nothing our lovely residents like better than a traditional pudding.

This week we were able to pick some of our home grown Rhubarb that we have been cultivating in the gardens of the home. What better way to serve it than in a crumble with lashings of custard.

Needless to say it didn’t last long!

Cheriton rated GOOD by CQC!

Our inspectorate, the Care Quality Commission, has recently visited the home and has rated us as GOOD in all areas - that’s Safe, Effective, Well Led, Caring and Responsive. Commenting on the home the CQC Inspector said:

'There were effective monitoring processes in place to help ensure a good standard of service. Quality assurance systems identified any areas that needed further development. The registered manager completed thorough investigations into any or concerns and acted to improve the service.’

We have worked hard at Cheriton to improve our all round service and this report is treatment to the commitment and dedication of the Manager and all the staff - who should all feel proud of their achievement.
