Thank you to the women who gathered with me, to sink into the darkest part of the year and connect to our innate power.
Always so grateful for your presence and contributions.
May the spirit of the Maiden, The Mother & The Crone remain with us, to remind us that we are not alone....

Yesterday I sat alone at my kitchen table with my crimson candle and set the intention for our Rekindle gathering today.
It was everything I hoped it would be provocative in all the best ways, dreamy, empowering and deeply refreshing.

I am going to give you a truthful, whistle-stop tour of your capacity for physical strength, why it's important and what's actually possible for those of us over 40.
Firstly when I refer to strength I'm talking about the protective, beautiful, resourced muscle density of your body. The mostly unseen parts of your capacity, your earthy, functional, everyday physical strength.
By the age of 25 we will all reach our bone density peak (our bones do not get any stronger after this). But for Goddess sake do not let this fact spiral you into the depths of despair, you are far stronger than you realise!
Muscle density, unlike bone, can always improve right up into very old age. The more muscle bulk you have, the better protected your bones are. So as we age and our estrogen levels decrease and with it our bone density, it's our muscles that are our best allies for keeping us strong.
Men also experience bone density loss as they age, but at a much slower rate than women do (partly because they don't go through the menopause and because they have A LOT more muscle mass to begin with).
But let's not focus on the muscle mass we lack and instead shine a light on our muscle building potential, which is VAST!!!
As the ladies that join me in class know. I teach how building strength can be done in unison with all our cycles (not just talking about the menstrual cycle here). That building strength is a diverse and nuanced experience that nourishes our whole selves not just the physical parts.
So the next time you're on the mat feeling the pinch, rest and take a breath and remember your capacity for strength is likely far greater than your mind will let you believe. You'll notice your capacity for endurance naturally increasing with sustained loving discipline.
I'm rooting for you girl, whatever life stage you're at, whatever exercise untruths you believe.

I will be forever grateful for the support I receive. Both in person and online. Our community is growing, but class sizes will always remain small.

I said this to Inara (my 11 year old daughter) yesterday during a rather heated discussion about perfectionism.
I wished someone had said this to me when I was her age, to not shoulder the weight of my self made obstacles alone, to not let the heat of my anger burn me from the inside out.
I have someone to say this to me now, that someone is me.
