Cyberbullying, harassment, cyberstalking, and doxxing are all forms of social and emotional abuse that can happen online. These can leave lasting emotional scars and deeply affect the mental wellbeing of anyone, regardless of background or age.

According to Ofcom:
๐Ÿ‘‰ 20% of girls and 14% of boys had received nasty or hurtful interactions through text or messaging apps
๐Ÿ‘‰ 18% of girls and 13% of boys received the same through social media
(https://orlo.uk/yabbS)

To ensure you can stay safe online, there are a few tips you can follow:
โœ… Use privacy settings on social media to avoid your information getting into the wrong hands
โœ… Keep your personal information private (such as your real name, school/place of employment, or address). Use fake names where possible
โœ… Block and report abusive users or anyone who has made you feel unsafe
โœ… Be weary of friend requests and only accept them from people you know and trust in real life. People can often pose as others online
โœ… If you are a young person, consider tell a reliable adult or someone you trust about the situation

Established in May 2025, Brothers In Arms Cymru is a men's mental health support group that uses indoor and outdoor activities to encourage conversation and connection.

The offer a confidential, non-judgmental space where men (18+) can talk openly about mental health, or simply drop in for a cuppa. Thereโ€™s no pressure to talk, just the opportunity to be part of a supportive community.

Their motto, โ€œDo the walk of life together,โ€ reflects their mission to empower men to take charge of their mental wellbeing, seek help when needed, and find value in their contributions.

As technology and the internet changes, so does the risk. This is why the theme for Safeguarding Week 2025 in Cwm Taf Morgannwg is 'Online Harm: Keeping Yourself and Others Safe'.

Safeguarding Week takes place from the 10th - 14th November and the Cwm Taf Morgannwg Safeguarding Board's programme of events offers the opportunity for members of the community, parents/carers and professionals to sign up to a variety of sessions looking at the different ways we can all keep ourselves and others safe from online harm.
