National Administrative Professionals Day – 22 April 2026 💙

Today we would like to take a moment to recognise and thank our amazing administrative team here at Aldergate Medical Practice.

Administrative Professionals Day is celebrated on the Wednesday of the last full week of April and is a chance to acknowledge the vital role admin staff play in keeping organisations running smoothly. In general practice, our admin team are often your first point of contact, working hard behind the scenes to manage appointments, prescriptions, referrals and communications that support safe and efficient patient care.

We are extremely grateful for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to our patients every single day. 💐

Please join us in saying thank you to all administrators! 💙

Stress Awareness Month | April 2026 🧘‍♂️

April is Stress Awareness Month, a nationwide campaign that has been running since 1992 to help people better understand the causes and effects of stress and how to manage it effectively.
This year’s theme is - a reminder that even small actions can make a meaningful difference to our wellbeing and to the wellbeing of those around us.

💚 At our practice, we know how much stress can affect your physical and mental health.
If you’ve been feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unable to cope, you’re not alone - workplace and daily‑life stress continue to rise across the UK.

✨ This April, we encourage you to:
Take time to pause and check in with yourself
Reach out if you're struggling — speaking to a GP or healthcare professional can make a real difference
Try small daily actions that support your wellbeing
Start conversations about stress to help reduce stigma

Our team is here to support you. If stress is impacting your sleep, mood, relationships, or day‑to‑day life, please get in touch. You don’t have to manage it alone.

🌿 April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month 🌿
This month, we stand together to raise awareness, support survivors, and promote safer communities across the UK.
Sexual violence can affect anyone - regardless of age, gender, background or identity. And every voice speaking up helps break the silence.
💙 Believe and support survivors
💙 Promote consent and respect
💙 Challenge harmful behaviours and attitudes
💙 Encourage open, honest conversations
If you or someone you know needs confidential support in the UK, these organisations can help:
• R**e Crisis England & Wales: https://rapecrisis.org.uk
• Scotland — R**e Crisis Scotland: https://www.rapecrisisscotland.org.uk
• Northern Ireland — Nexus NI: https://nexusni.org
• Samaritans (24/7 emotional support): https://www.samaritans.org / 116 123
Let’s use this month to learn, listen and uplift those affected and commit to creating a culture where everyone feels safe and respected.
Together, we can make a difference. 💙
*xualassultawarenessmonth

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Throughout the month we will be sharing content about consent, what s*xual assault is and support available.

First up, let's cover some key consent facts:

ℹ️ Consent is key to all s*x and s*xual contact, s*x without consent is s*xual assault.
✅ Consent needs to be an enthusiastic yes.
🧠 People need to understand what they are agreeing to.
🤷 “Maybe” or “I’m not sure” do not mean someone is consenting.
🍻 If someone is drunk, high, or doesn’t understand what they’re agreeing to, they can’t consent.

🌍 World Oral Health Day – 20 March 🦷

A healthy mouth is essential for a healthy life, and this year’s theme reminds us that “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Life.”

Good oral health supports your wellbeing at every age - simple daily habits like brushing twice a day, reducing sugar, and attending regular dental check-ups make a big difference.
Poor oral health can lead to pain, discomfort, and affect your confidence, so taking small steps today helps protect your future health.

🌟 World Kidney Day 2026 – 🌟
Did you know that over SEVEN million people in the UK are living with kidney disease? Far more that most people realise! It could be a neighbour, a friend, a colleague… or even you.
This World Kidney Day, taking place on Thursday 12 March 2026, I’m supporting the campaign to help bust the myths around kidney disease and raise awareness of the crucial role our kidneys play.

World Kidney Day (WKD) is an annual global awareness and education event, held on the second Thursday in March every year.
