Happy 100th Birthday to Sylvia! 🎉 With a big birthday cake, afternoon tea and an evening of entertainment, Sylvia, resident at Willowmere Extra Care Service in Cheshire, has been celebrating her big birthday with her family, friends and the Radis Team! 🎂🎈

Sylvia grew up in Surrey and relocated to Cheshire in 1944 during the Second World War. She was married to her late husband Denis for over 40 years, and has one daughter, two grandchildren and six great grandchildren. After working many office jobs and at Middlewich Post Office, Sylvia realised her ambition to become a primary school teacher, which became her favourite job as she loved working with the children 💙

On turning 100, Sylvia says "enjoy your jelly babies and chocolate buttons, they are the secret of long life!".

🤩 Congratulations to Paula Hoggarth, our Group Operations Director, for winning not one, but two awards at The Women's Awards 2025! 👏

Over £1,000 raised for local hospital services in Accrington 💙

Staff and residents from Kirk House Extra Care Service and Hyndbrook House Extra Care Service have raised over £1,000 for ELHT&Me by holding a community charity day.

Organised as a thank you to the ELHT teams, it brought together staff, residents and friends of Radis to raise funds after members of the team had recently received cancer treatment with the Trust.

Susan Carne, Service Manager at Hyndbrook House, said "This cause was very close to our hearts, as two of our own staff members received cancer treatment at the hospital last year.

“We wanted to show our gratitude while also supporting the brilliant work they do for the wider community. The generosity of everyone who took part has been overwhelming and we’re delighted to have raised an incredible £1,062.26. The total raised will go towards supporting patient care and services within the hospital."

Development of independent living apartments in Hunstanton reaches highest point 🛠️ This week we celebrated the development at a traditional ‘topping-out’ ceremony, held to mark the construction reaching its highest point!

Places for People is extending its affordable living portfolio into Hunstanton, Norfolk, with the development of 61 brand-new independent living apartments for people aged 55 and over at Lavender View, in partnership with Norfolk County Council.

The Radis Community Care team will provide on-site care and support 24/7 at Lavender View, enabling individuals to remain independent in a home of their choice.

The new community will bring much-needed independent living accommodation to people over 55 living here. It has aptly been named Lavender View after the rich and vibrant lavender fields established since 1932 and located three miles south of Hunstanton 🪻

Our Gloucestershire team had another great year at Cheltenham's Party in the Park! ☀️ The theme of the day was ‘Youth Culture’ and included a diverse range of opportunities for children and young people including sports, circus skills, live music and more.

With a visit from Councillor Dr David Willingham, and glitter stickers attracting the crowds, our team had a fantastic day talking to those who stopped by. We're delighted to have provided lots of people in Cheltenham with information and advice about caring for a loved one 💙

🏉🌹 To celebrate the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup being hosted in Exeter this summer, with the first match of the tournament being played this evening, four creative residents at Edwards Court Extra Care Service in Exeter have knitted and crocheted metres of bunting, bunches of red roses and even some rugby balls to be displayed at the RAMM (Royal Albert Memorial Museum) and the Exeter Historic Guildhall!

Kate, 86, who has crocheted for over 50 years said "I hopes it cheers the England team on and brings sporting spirit to the community!"

Barbara Beames, Activities Coordinator at Edwards Court, said: “We regularly organise arts and crafts activities for the residents – we have communal hobby spaces on-site – and when I asked the residents if they would like to take part in the Yarn Art project they were keen to get involved. They like to see women succeeding and so the Women’s Rugby World Cup is particularly important for them.”

She continues, “Arts and crafts help the residents come together as a community and is a social activity as well as a creative one, providing an opportunity to meet, make new friends and support each other as well as giving an outlet for their talents.”

As a thank you for their hard work, Barbara and the crafting residents have been invited to the Lord Mayor’s Reception at the Historic Guildhall, where they will have the chance to see their beautifully crafted, knitted, and crocheted creations proudly displayed on the walls.🧶

⛰️ Climbing mountains for mental health, Radis Support Worker Jordan tackled the National Three Peaks Challenge, setting out to climb the highest mountain in England, Scotland, and Wales within 24 hours, in aid of Mind, Radis’ Charity of the Year.

Motivated by his love of the outdoors and wanting to help those affected by mental health, Jordan took on the challenge in memory of his sister Amy, who sadly lost her life in April last year after struggles with mental health.

Through rain, strong winds, and hail, together with his friend, Jordan climbed Scafell Pike in England, Ben Nevis in Scotland, and Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon) in Wales, successfully reaching the summits of all three peaks and travelling between them in just 22 hours and 12 minutes.

Thanks to the generosity of his supporters, Jordan has raised over £2,000 for Mind. 💙

Jordan says: “I want to thank every single person who got involved sharing the fundraiser on social media and who kindly donated! I’m so glad my friend and I were able to do this to help others.”
