September is Alzheimer's Awareness Month.

As we get older, we’re likely to notice some changes in our mental abilities. Though these changes can be frustrating, for most of us they are part of the natural process of ageing.

But dementia is different. It’s not a normal part of getting older. If you are worried, you will find a symptom checklist at the link here:

September is Alzheimer's Awareness Month and World Alzheimer's Day is on 21 September each year. It's a global opportunity to raise dementia awareness and support people affected by the disease.

The word 'dementia' describes a set of symptoms that, over time, can affect memory, problem-solving, language and behaviour.

Dementia can be caused by many different diseases. These diseases affect the brain in different ways, resulting in different types of dementia. Alzheimer's is a specific type of dementia and the most common cause of symptoms.
