One of my favourite practices for entering a new year is to do my Energies for the Year Ahead tarot reading for myself. I do this every year and write the monthly energetics in to my planner ready to greet me as I move through the year. It can be alot of information to take in one go and I'd never remember what was said 10 or 11 months later, so this practice helps to keep it at the forefront of my mind.

It's too good not to share the wonder with you guys.

These are not predictive play by plays of what will occur in your year, but rather a glimpse at the energy threading through your life. Times that might feel wobbly, times of expansion, exploring how the energy will shift & move through your life as the year progresses. I have a strong belief that your daily decisions shape your future, so there are multiple possibilities & outcomes.

At the centre of the reading is the overall theme for the year, an animal spirit to walk beside you, words to ponder, relationship and career focus, alongside spiritual guidance for how best to move forward & shine as you should.

Each month receives a minimum of 1 tarot & 1 oracle message.

My heart cracked open this morning. I read a story & some poetry that released emotions that had been clogged up inside of me for sometime. Sweet relief.

I turned to my self healing practice to energetically refill my cup. I felt a rush of energy cascade down into me, an open vessel eager for replenishment. The energy seemed to be infused with roses & was gratefully received. A divine flow of love caressing every part of my soul & physical body.

Held.

Loved.

11.11 is a magical number & never fails to make me smile when I see it appear on a clock or calendar.

I love this time of year, the energy feels electrified & really positive. And oh my goodness I love my birthday!

Anyone close to me knows I like a full week (maybe month 👀) of birthday celebrations & this year is no different. With a holiday in Portugal, incredible meals in Glasgow & heading to London later this month, my cup is being filled.

I am brimming with gratitude today, for the beautiful, aligned people in my life, the small but enchanting world I amble within, the words & wonder I get to immerse myself in everyday. My life is truly abundant in all of the ways that matter.

My tarot card for today was The Sun, of course! My solar return, being found & celebrated by the right people, shining, sharing warmth & light with the world.

For the year ahead I received the Page of Cups. Ease & trusting my path, autonomy & freedom, having the resources within. Tasting life a little more deeply. Magic, wonder & playfulness. Yes yes yes!

There'll be plenty of posts around today talking of activation codes, cosmic truths, releasing fears, shedding old programming, & shifting into higher alignment (all the good stuff).

But really you are being shown how your EFFORT shapes your destiny. 11.11 is considered to be an energetic portal for manifesting, which may be so, but I'd like to remind you that you are creating your reality EVERY DAY!

You have the opportunity each day, each MOMENT, to choose your thoughts - this is your SUPER POWER. Thoughts become things. ✨️

Negative thoughts can creep in, but you can CHOOSE to think a higher thought at any point. Eg. you might think to yourself "Nothing ever goes right for me", but you could CHOOSE to think "I am abundant & thriving". If that's too big of a leap & doesn't feel believable for you, then try a thought that is just ONE STEP HIGHER like "today is better than yesterday". Try it next time you're in a negative spiral, just one step higher, shift your energy.

Someone asked me the other day how Scorpio season feels. How does it differ from the energy of the previous season? Energy isn't easy to articulate, but there's a depth right now, a desire to excavate life, yourself, those you meet. Surface layers don't scratch the itch.

Something rises within. Your skin feels constrictive. A newness or perhaps an ancientness needing to emerge. A shedding is needed. You can't breathe until the current layers are peeled away. A phoenix energy, burning what was to ashes, to reveal a truth aching to be expressed.

Again and again and again.

So I devised this spread for myself last week, to explore the itch beneath my skin. Try it for yourself. Any kind of deck will work; tarot, oracle, angel. Have a journal to hand to help you pick through what rises inside of you as you feel into the images & words that appear.

I've been asked to share some of my favourite magical tools from my own practice, so 1st up... cacao.

5 years ago I undertook a month long immersive healing journey with cacao &
I was forever altered.

I can only drink it in the morning, any other time of the day and it makes me feel all kinds of weird.

I make mine with oat milk & 28g of ceremonial grade cacao. I don't add any flavours or sweeteners, but that's personal preference, adding spices or natural syrups does not effect the medicine & is common practice.

When I say medicine, that is what cacao is; a plant medicine. It has the most beautiful heart opening abilities. Helping you to lead with love in all endeavours & explore the states of your heart in a deeper, more expansive way.

My current fave brand is Forever Cacao . It's smooth, rich & not bitter. I've tried a few different brands but this is my go to for now.

My morning is a time of ritual, for slowing down, & listening to my inner wisdom. Intentionally showing up for myself in a meaningful way. A sacred space of heart centering, with deep respect & care for my wellbeing. Cacao is an anchor for me, signalling time for devotion, introspection & stillness.

Coming back from holiday this weekend, was a shock to my system. Plunged directly into the human world, no more hours spent watching birds flying & tending their nests, the ease I'd cultivated. I was back to the busyness & hurry, to the expectations & rules of others.

I was lost.

Until I could find the quiet once again.

To connect with the truth of my heart.

We spend so much of our lives disconnected from ourselves, rushing from one thing to the next, without taking time to slow down,
to be present in what we are doing or to
reflect upon our actions & situations.

My morning practice allows me to feel into love, pleasure, time, presence & sensuality. It is a moment to pause & connect, to nourish myself, so that I may feel abundant in the simplicity of it all.

Its a small magical joy at the start of my day.

I've been dreaming about dead animals. One night it was fish in a stream, all different kinds; fish symbolising nourishment, that which feeds you... dead.

Foxes, small birds & an owl... a warning about ignoring my intuition, neglecting my inner voice... not following through when I've received the messages. A tendency toward logic & external pressure, rather than listening to what feels right.

The owl felt significant as I watched it transition in my dream. A message of transformation, the end of one phase & the beginning of another.

I'm in the shedding. I feel it. The cocoon of healing protection I built for myself in the last few years now feels restrictive. When once it was healing, now holds me in stasis.

Transformation isn't new for me. As a 1° Aries ascendant I am perpetually new born. A Scorpio sun, synonymous with evolution & metamorphosis. Friends often comment on the many versions of Josie that have existed. So I find myself in familiar territory, but the landscape is always shifting.

I can feel a layer trying to scour loose
It clings in patches
I trip as it gathers around my feet
This isn't a smooth effortless process
Its hard
To release the familiar
To trust in the letting go
That something truer will take its place
More aligned, more authentic, more me

Who am I becoming?
What will they see?
Vulnerable
Exposed
The air hitting my surface, taking my breath for a moment
Naked with fresh skin

Me, again. Always me, but changed.

The door to autumn cracks open & we step outside, but it's somehow a stepping inside, too. Out in the elements, feeling the crisp air and hearing the rustle of leaves as the winds pick up. Contrasting the time at home, you close your eyes and you are cosy and well.

All is well.

I love this season. My favourite memories are from autumn. Simple, dark & moody but magical.

I have very few memories of my mother, short scenes cut from the film of my life. A glimpse of a coat, legs beneath the ironing board. Hands passing me things. Kind of like the women in the old Tom and Jerry cartoons, body and a voice, no clear distinction of a face.

But each scene feels deeply woven with magic. Threads of love and wonder combine with the imaginings of a small child. Fairies, gnomes, powder puffs, spell books & potions. Her tiny handwriting.

The banging of doors in the wind. Train rides through the dark with strings of street lamps like fairy lights in the distance.

The winds of autumn stir these memories to the surface and make me feel. There are so many emotions and for that, I am grateful.

As autumn marks a descent for many toward hibernation, I come to life. For in the deeper feelings, you know what it is to be alive. To have the gift of this human existence.
