This is the Official page for The Bracken Birth Centre located at Musgrove Park Hospital, Taunton, Somerset.

Bracken Birth Centre is a Midwife led 'alongside' Birth Centre based at Musgrove Park Hospital. The Bracken Birth centre team of Midwives, Community Midwives and Maternity support workers guide and support women and their partners through birth and new parenthood in a relaxed home from home setting. Approximately one third of the births at Bracken Birth Centre are water births. We offer two wonderful pools in our newly refurbished rooms. Bracken Midwives also promote and support the use of active birth positions, Essential oils, massage. hypnobirthing and biomechanics techniques.

Bracken team were very busy on Monday supporting 5 wonderful births on the birth centre! It was a hot hot hot day but the babies kept arriving. Congratulations to our wonderful new families. xx

Hello! We have had a wonderful month of births in May. We welcomed 51 babies on the birth centre. Our families (and the midwives!) have been enjoying the air conditioning in our birth rooms during the hot weather. We are looking forward to meeting the first of our summer babies this month x

Hello! We are delighted to share our birth statistics for April 2021 with you. We have had a record number of babies arriving this month..61 in total! Congratulations to all of our new families xx We would also like to extend our grateful thanks to the midwives and support staff in both the community and the rest of the maternity unit who have helped us to support all of the births on Bracken in April.
