We had another lovely Mind & Motion session at the Kings Arms Community Hub yesterday. We had lots going on from clay modelling, games, cross stitch and drawing. Our Registered Manager, Ben, even had a go at embroidery!

How to support someone living with dementia in colder weather: advice from Alzheimer's Society.

❄ Dress appropriately - a person with dementia may not dress according to the weather, so ensure they have plenty of warm clothes available for layering to keep them warm.

❄ Keep the room warm - a good temperature is around 20 degrees Celsius.

❄ Encourage regular movement - to keep warm.

❄ Make the most of natural daylight - open curtains and get outside even if just for a few minutes!

❄ Stick to a routine - try to introduce any changes gradually.

❄ Be careful of snow and ice - dementia can cause perception issues.

Did you know? Today is National Stress Awareness Day! 💙
Recognising physical signs of stress is important in helping to recover from it.
When we face a stressful situation, the body produces stress hormones. These hormones then trigger a response, fight or flight, as well as activating our immune system, to help us deal with dangerous situations. Sometimes this response is helpful, it can help us push beyond our ‘normal’ capabilities.
However too much stress, too often can cause negative effects, leaving us overwhelmed, and long-term affecting our physical and mental health.
Whether you’re a carer, customer, or loved one - remember to pause, breathe, and find small moments of calm.

Our HR Consultant, Beverley, has been busy again with more seated exercise sessions at Bishop's Court!

Today, Diana attended as well to provide health checks with our Care Assist blue box, and little Amber came along too to give out some Bluebird cuddles 🥰
