It’s getting to be that time of year again. I am thrilled to see more runners out and about, hear of more people taking part in their favourite hobbies or sports! I love seeing and hearing that everyone is more active. But it’s important to also remember to allow your body time to recover and you can do that with Sports Massage too!

So yesterday Effie took quite a tumble, fortunately she was ok and between us all we knew everything needed to do to help her.

But it got me thinking about acute injury’s and how sports massage can help.

An acute injury is a recent injury (usually within the first 24–72 hours) such as a muscle strain, ligament sprain, or contusion.

Massage can be introduced after the acute inflammatory phase (usually 48–72 hours later) and may include:
💫light lymphatic drainage
💫gentle surrounding tissue work
💫gradual mobilisation

It’s Purpose is to:
💫reduce swelling
💫prevent scar tissue adhesions
💫improve circulation during healing
💫support faster recovery

So this Sunday morning our little Effie has woken up feeling bright and being her usual bossy self 😳! But I’ll be supporting her with any muscle recovery she may need.

If your shoulders are constantly restricted from movement, they can feel stuck causing pains and restrictions else where.
Here I have worked on one shoulder, it has released and lowered. The movement has improved and with some consistency in after care advice or further treatment then pain can be improved.
