✨ I’m incredibly proud of my first book — a simple, practical guide created to help you stop feeling confused about everyday food choices.

When I first planned it, I imagined a huge, detailed book that would take me ages to finish. But along the way, I realised something important: people don’t need more information… they need clear information.

So I stripped it back to the essentials and created a short, easy-to-follow guide with a traffic‑light system you can start using from day one. It teaches you how to choose better-quality daily food and spot the common traps used in the food industry.

Many of us know we should change something in our lifestyle, but we often don’t know where to start or who to trust — especially with so many diets and opinions out there. The good news is: you don’t need to study hundreds of nutrition books or decide whether vegan, vegetarian, or carnivore is “best”. Whatever you choose, this guide will help you read labels with confidence and make healthier choices.

It’s available as an A4 print-on-demand book on Amazon, and also as an ebook.

Here is another stinging nettle sister: white dead nettle.

When it’s in bloom, it’s very easy to recognise thanks to its distinctive white flowers. Alongside dandelion and purple dead nettle, it’s one of the first early foods for insects, bees and bumblebees — so when foraging, please treat it with respect.
You’ll often find ants inside the flowers too.

White dead nettle blossoms were traditionally used to support hormonal balance and menopause. I use the whole plant, chopped, and add it to my cleavers water as a natural vitamin and mineral boost.

A gentle herbal walk on historic monastic land. Meet wild plants, feel their scent and texture, and reconnect to nature at Abbey Manor

Join Daria for a slow, peaceful herbal walk on the private grounds of Abbey Manor, Buildwas — a beautiful landscape beside the ancient ruins of Buildwas Abbey, where wild herbs have grown for centuries.

This is not a foraging class and not a technical workshop.

It is a calm, guided walk designed to help you reconnect with nature through simple, direct experience.

For two unhurried hours, we will explore the plants that thrive on this historic land, noticing their scent, texture, shape and presence. You will hear short stories about their traditional uses, but the focus will be on meeting the plants in a natural, intuitive way — through touch, smell and quiet observation.

🌱 What to expect

During this walk, you will be invited to:

- smell early‑spring herbs that have grown here for generations

- feel the textures of wild growing plants

- notice how plants express themselves through posture and resilience

- experience the calm atmosphere of monastic land

- enjoy a gentle tree‑hugging moment with one of the old trees (optional)

- try a short barefoot grounding practice (weather‑permitting)

- use a small clear quartz piece as a tactile anchor during grounding

- slow down and let the landscape set the pace

Everything is optional, gentle and suitable for all levels.

🌿 Plants & traditional uses

We will meet early‑spring herbs such as nettle, cleavers, wild garlic and more that naturally grow around the estate. Daria will include a short story about how herbs were used by monks in the past.

Daria will share simple, short information about how these plants were traditionally used for nourishment, soothing or seasonal support.

You will learn through experience, not memorisation.

🌳 Why this place is special

Abbey Manor Buildwas sits beside the remains of a medieval monastery.

The land carries a quiet, reflective atmosphere shaped by centuries of herbal knowledge and deep connection with nature.

Many of the plants we will meet today grow in the same places their ancestors grew hundreds of years ago.

This walk allows you to reconnect with them in a way that feels personal, grounding and alive.

🌬️ Who this walk is for

- anyone seeking calm, grounding and gentle exploration

- people who enjoy nature but prefer a slow, quiet pace

- those curious about herbs without wanting a technical class

- creatives, nature lovers, neurodivergent minds

- anyone who wants to feel more connected to the land

🦶 Practical notes

- Barefoot grounding is optional and weather‑dependent

- Tree‑hugging is gentle and optional

- Small group for a quiet, intimate atmosphere

- Please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes

🌙 You will leave with

- a calmer nervous system

- a deeper connection to the land

- a new way of noticing plants

- one simple grounding practice you can use anywhere

Join us and let this quiet walk become a small, meaningful pause in your week - a moment to breathe, reconnect and held by nature.

I wasn’t planning to make any more jewellery, but I couldn’t resist buying these beautiful rose‑quartz carved flowers, so I’ll be making sterling silver earrings! 🥰

🌿 Tight chest or that familiar early‑spring head tension?
Meet Viola odorata — a tiny plant with tiny flowers, yet an unbelievably powerful scent.

This little beauty is edible and has been traditionally used to soothe the chest and ease headaches during those changeable early‑spring days. You can dry the flowers and store them for later, but keep in mind: even a small amount of light can fade their gorgeous colour. I recommend drying them gently and storing them somewhere dark to preserve their magic.

I’d love to hear your experience — do you use violets in your seasonal routine, and how?

You can also join me for my next herbal walk at Abbey Manor in Buildwas on 25 April at 11am to learn even more.

We’re a small family team — myself, my husband Mirek, and our dog Opal — connected by a lifelong love for nature, herbs, and the quiet rhythms of the wild.

My journey began in childhood, listening to my great‑grandmother share stories about healing plants. When I became a mother 25 years ago, those stories became my daily practice. Since then, I’ve continued to learn, explore, and deepen my understanding of herbs, natural therapies, and holistic wellbeing.

I’m also the author of Food Matters – Your Path to Eating Well in a Confusing World of Food, my first book: a simple, practical guide with a clear traffic‑light system that helps readers understand ingredient lists, common additives, and everyday marketing traps.

Mirek is the keen‑eyed forager in our family — the one who spots wild herbs and mushrooms long before anyone else does. I’m the one who processes, preserves, and turns them into something useful. And Opal… he’s our joyful companion on every foraging walk, sunrise wander, and crystal‑hunting adventure.

🌱 Together, we’re now working on our next book — a year‑round foraging diary — documenting the plants and mushrooms we find.

If you’re here to slow down, reconnect with nature, and rediscover the simple magic of the outdoors, you’re in the right place.

🌧️ Ever listened to the rain like it’s speaking to you?

This morning I woke up to birds singing, woven gently into the sound of rain. I stretched under the covers, hugged my dog, and let that softness set the tone for a calm, grounded Friday.

On our early walk, the raindrops created their own quiet music. Most people rush past it… but rain has this beautiful, soothing power when you actually pause and let it in.

Today, give yourself 2 slow minutes.
Stop.
Listen to the rain — or the silence behind it.
Let your whole body soften.

It’s a simple way to begin the weekend feeling peaceful instead of rushed.
