Today I thought I’d share some facts.
I wish they were fun facts but they are in fact quite worrying…..
As part of completing my MSc in Neuroscience and psychology of mental health we are currently looking at children & Adolescents. Perfect and right up my street!
So the facts ……sit tight….😬
5 children in every classroom are struggling with their mental health (children’s society 2025)
That’s a 50% increase in the past 3 years
We know early intervention is critical
However, specialist services are overstretched so many children are refused treatment or are stuck on long waiting lists.
Yet many young people would prefer to access support without going through their GP.
Which is why the children love coming to somewhere like here. Where it’s less clinical and intimidating. Sadly 70% do not get adequate support
The environment has a huge impact. So being outdoors, free to move and help with the animals whilst talking really makes a huge difference.
This is why we have created Willows Wish CIC. As we believe no one should struggle with their mental health alone and parents should not have to be paying huge fees to get private help and support
By supporting us in raising funds for Willows wish you will enable us to offer sessions for an envelope donation.
Be that 50p for a bag of carrots, £5 a bale of hay, £20 a bag of feed…. £25 covers the cost of keeping one of our therapy ponies for the week.
If we raise £500 we can offer 12 sessions for children and families who would otherwise not access support. Current wait lists are 2yrs+ that is just too long……
This can prevent su***de and self harm, support them through bullying, help uncover the communication behind behaviour.
Reduce anxiety& depression
But above all, give them hope, a feeling that things can get better and someone cares.
We think that’s priceless
So please support us if you can 🙏
