Thank you all so much for the kind donations this year in helping us to get our Christmas lights lights switched on. With your help we will be able to switch on this years lights and put on Tenburys famous Santa parade in December.
Many of our lights are several years old now, so inevitably they will have to be replaced soon, which again will cost several thousands of pounds.
So we intend to keep fundraising to give us a good start for next years display which will need lots of extra work.
Unfortunately there have been new regulations issued by Worcestershire highways which prevent us from attaching to street lighting columns. This will impact this years display and prevent us from putting up lighting along Teme bridge. We are assessing this for next year to see if we can have poles made to take the weight of new lighting. Also, one of the trees on the Tenbury side of the bridge has been cut down, which was one of the main anchor points for all the electrics. So lots to sort out next year. We are also purchasing new lights for the Christmas tree by the round market as these were damaged in a previous year.
The primary objective this year is to put on a good display in Tenbury for everyone to enjoy. The lights will be switched on outside the Regal cinema at 5pm on Saturday 22nd November (build up including a road closure from 4.35pm. We hope to see you there!
