There’s a quiet shift happening in the wellness space right now.

For a long time, the focus has been on doing more —
more workouts, more discipline, more pushing through.

But more and more, I’m seeing people realise that this approach only works… until it doesn’t.

Because if your nervous system is constantly in a state of stress, the body doesn’t recognise those efforts as “healthy” — it experiences them as pressure.

And when that happens, progress can feel harder, not easier.

This is where a more balanced approach to wellbeing becomes essential.

In my experience, both personally and professionally, real, sustainable wellness starts with creating a sense of safety in the body.

That might look like:
• Slowing down your pace of movement
• Incorporating breathwork or stillness
• Using sound or music to support relaxation
• Choosing consistency over intensity

It doesn’t mean you stop exercising or challenging yourself.

It means you build a foundation that actually supports it.

Because when the nervous system feels regulated, the body is far more receptive…. to movement, to rest, and to change.

This is something I’m increasingly passionate about as I continue my work in yoga, meditation, and sound-based practices.

Curious to hear your thoughts
have you noticed a shift away from “push harder” towards a more balanced approach?

Hi, it’s Melissa here 🤍

I realised I don’t often share much about myself, and why wellness has always been such a big part of my life.

It’s never really been something I’ve “got into”… it’s just how I’ve always been.

From being young, I was drawn to natural living — making little beauty remedies, exploring herbs, and finding my own ways to feel good and balanced.

I’ve also always loved music.
Even now, I find it one of the most powerful ways to shift how you feel. It can calm you, ground you, and bring you back to yourself without needing to do much at all.

Movement has been a huge part of my life too.
I’ve danced since I was 4, trained professionally, and later taught at a high level — so I’ve spent years understanding the body, how it moves, and what it needs.

Over time, that naturally led me into yoga… and more recently into sound work.

What I’ve come to understand through all of this is how important it is to feel settled in yourself.

Because when your body feels calm and supported, everything else becomes that bit easier — your energy, your strength, even your motivation.

That’s always been the foundation for me 🤍

And I’d actually love to know…

If you’ve known me over the years, how do you remember me?
What stands out or even a fun moment we’ve shared ? ✨
