Our beautiful magnolia tree outside the Thame practice is soon to be in full bloom, which can only mean one thing — brighter days are on the way. And with sunshine expected tomorrow, we’re already feeling that lovely lift in mood that a bit of spring sunshine brings.

There’s something about those first warm, sunny days that just makes everything feel better.

☀️ Solar Appreciation Day

The sun does wonderful things for our mood and wellbeing — but it’s important to remember that our eyes need protection too.

Just like your skin, your eyes can be affected by UV exposure. Over time, this can increase the risk of conditions such as cataracts and other eye damage.

A good pair of UV-protective sunglasses can make all the difference, helping to keep your eyes comfortable and protected when you’re out enjoying the sunshine.

Low vision isn’t always something that can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses alone. It can affect people of all ages and may make everyday tasks like reading, recognising faces, or getting around more challenging.

That’s why organisations like MyVision Oxfordshire play such an important role, offering practical support, guidance and reassurance to people living with sight loss across our local community.

We’re proud to be continuing our fundraising for MyVision Oxfordshire this year and supporting the vital work they do.

🌿 Half Term Reminder: Get Outside (Even If the Weather Isn’t Perfect!) 🌦️

With half term just around the corner, it can be tempting to stay indoors if the weather isn’t playing ball — but getting outside with the kids can do wonders, even on grey or drizzly days.

Spending time outdoors gives young eyes (and grown-up ones too!) a much-needed break from screens, helps eyes focus at different distances, and supports healthy visual development. Natural daylight — even when it’s cloudy — is incredibly beneficial.

So whether it’s a muddy walk, a bike ride, kicking a ball around, or just some fresh air in the park, it all counts ☺️
