🌨️ New Year, Winter Weather & Your Eyes ❄️

As we step into the New Year, colder temperatures and the possibility of snowfall are very much on the cards ❄️

While winter weather can be beautiful, it can also be surprisingly tough on your eyes.

Cold air, wind, and central heating can all contribute to:
- dry, irritated eyes
- watering or stinging in the cold
- increased light sensitivity (especially around snow and low winter sun)
- discomfort for contact lens wearers

A few simple tips can make a big difference:
- Protect your eyes outdoors with good-quality sunglasses to reduce glare
- Keep eyes well lubricated with suitable eye drops
- Stay hydrated — it really does help
- Don’t ignore persistent irritation or changes in vision

If your eyes feel uncomfortable this winter, or you’re not sure whether your current eyewear is giving you the protection you need, we’re always happy to help.

Here’s to a healthy, happy New Year — whatever the weather brings ✨

⛷️❄️ Heading off to the slopes this ski season?

If you usually wear glasses, you may want to consider contact lenses when skiing or snowboarding.

Why?
✔️ No glasses under your goggles
✔️ Reduced fogging and slipping
✔️ Wider, clearer field of vision
✔️ More comfort when moving at speed

Contact lenses can make life on the slopes simpler — especially in cold, snowy conditions where goggles are a must.

If you’re planning a ski trip this winter, it’s worth thinking ahead so you’re comfortable and confident from first run to last.

🎁 December is Gift of Sight Month 👁️✨

As we head into the festive season, we’re surrounded by things that bring us joy – twinkling lights, favourite books, winter walks, family faces, and moments worth remembering.

Good vision plays a part in all of it… yet it’s something many of us take for granted.

👀 Regular eye examinations don’t just help you see clearly
💙 They can detect early signs of eye conditions and wider health issues
⏳ And they help protect your sight for the years ahead

Looking after your eye health is one of the most valuable gifts you can give yourself – and your family.

This December, take a moment to see to your sight.
Your future self will thank you.

💙 November is Eye Donor Awareness Month 💙

This month, we’re honouring the incredible generosity of eye donors and the life-changing impact their gift has on others.

Donated corneas help restore sight for people living with corneal disease, injury, and scarring — giving them the chance to see clearly again and rediscover the world around them.

Eye donation is a remarkable act of kindness, and Eye Donor Awareness Month is a time to acknowledge those who choose to give the gift of sight.

💙 A small act. A lasting legacy.

🌟 Happy Celebrate Your Unique Talent Day! 🌟

Today is all about the wonderful, unexpected, and sometimes downright brilliant talents that make each of us unique — and our team is no exception!

🎪 Ellie, one of our Optometrists, is an incredible aerial hoop performer. When she’s not looking after your eyes, she’s up in the air delivering the most graceful spins and shapes!

🐐 Trish, our Dispensing Optician, has a very different (but equally amazing!) skill… she’s a talented goat herder! Yes — really. And she’s brilliant at it.

We love that our team brings so much personality, passion and sparkle — both inside and outside the practice.

Now it’s your turn…
👇 What’s your unique or unusual talent?
We’d love to hear them — the quirkier, the better!

🚗 Road Safety Week: Your Vision Matters 🚗

As the days get darker and driving conditions become trickier, having clear, comfortable vision is essential for staying safe on the road.

👁️ Even small changes in eyesight can affect reaction times, depth perception, and night driving confidence.

✨ Our new DNEye Scanner is here to help.

This advanced technology measures how you uniquely use your eyes, allowing us to create:
• More accurate prescriptions
• Highly personalised lenses
• Sharper clarity — especially at night

If you’ve noticed more glare while driving or just aren’t feeling as confident on the road, it might be time for an eye check.

❄️ As the Weather Turns Colder… Let’s Talk About Your Eyes ❄️

Have you noticed your eyes feeling a bit drier or more irritated lately?
It’s not just you — cold weather and indoor heating can both have a big impact on eye comfort.

When temperatures drop, the air becomes drier, and that can lead to:
• 👁️ Dry, gritty, or watery eyes
• 💨 Irritation from cold winds
• 🔥 Discomfort when switching between chilly air and warm, heated rooms

The good news? Small changes can make a big difference:
• Use a good-quality hydrating eye drop
• Sit further away from direct heat sources
• Blink often when using screens
• Wear sunglasses outside to protect from wind and glare

And if your eyes have been feeling particularly uncomfortable, we’re always here to help.
A quick chat or an eye health check can give you the relief you need.

💬 Pop in or give us a call — we’ll look after you.

📚✨ It’s National Young Readers Week! ✨📚

There’s nothing quite like getting lost in a good story — whether it’s dragons and castles, daring adventures, or bedtime tales before lights out. 👓

Reading is not only wonderful for young imaginations, but also a great way to spot early signs that your child’s eyes might need a little help. If they’re squinting, losing their place on the page, or avoiding reading altogether, it could be time for an eye check.

At Ivan R Cammack Opticians, we love seeing young bookworms thrive! 🐛💬
Regular eye exams make sure their world — and their favourite stories — stay crystal clear.

📖 See to Read. See to Learn. See to Dream. 💫

📅 Book their next eye test today — because every great story deserves to be seen clearly.
