Introducing Karen Gilbert, GowringsVersa’s Deliveries Team Leader
Karen has worked for Gowrings Versa for more than 18 years, ensuring the smooth delivery of our new vehicles. She and her team are responsible for the good communication, registration and delivery of more than 1,000 new and used vehicles each year.
Smooth supply of vehicles over the last five years has been disrupted by issues including Covid, changes in our relationship with the EU and the availability of petrol or diesel vehicles. These can all cause delivery dates to slip and it is down to Karen and the Deliveries Team to liaise with Production, monitor orders and keep our customers informed on progress and any delays.
Karen said “If a vehicle is custom-built to meet a customer’s specific needs, it can be several months between order and delivery. The Deliveries Team speak to the customers regularly, maintaining contact, answering questions and ensuring expectations are realistic. We build strong relationships with our customers and frequently hear why a vehicle is so important and so eagerly awaited.”
Used Vehicle deliveries are managed through the same stringent process, with Deliveries monitoring the factory refurbishment of each vehicle, any delays to availability of parts and communication with the customer.
Karen’s favourite part of her role is when a customer receives a vehicle and it transforms their life, ending isolation and restoring their freedom. The Deliveries Team office is decorated with cards of thanks from numerous customers.
Challenges Karen and her team face in the coming year include uncertainty in the Motability market, changes to benefits, higher Motability advanced payments and less comprehensive lease terms.
